I wonder why some bookies decrease limits not rapidly but gradually ? Many bookies limits sharp accounts as soon as they spot sharp actions. However some do gradually, and we can earn more thanks to that.

One answer could be that they want to keep you as a client in other sports and markets. You could be good in football (limited) but very bad in cricket (not limited) so in the end they make money from your account.

It is a very nice question though if we are talking about softs like bet365
where they would let you value bet for ages.

Yes - limits may be different for each sport - with B365 I can't get a bet on things like Basketball because I did well but can still get good bets on Baseball
