Former arber signing in,how is the UK market?

Mon Jan 19, 2015 7:36 am

Hi,I was a former full time arber for 10+ years but at the beginning of 2014 I noticed a dramatic change in the markets and subsequent downturn in profits.
This continued and arbing actually began to annoy me as odds never seemed available and arb numbers were way down, also some of the more improtant books to me got a lot sharper.
With the advent of the POC tax and finally Pinnacles withdrawal I ended my arbing career the day they pulled out as they took 70% of my turnover.
I now trade sports markets my profits are nearly back to arbitrage levels(circa 100k),I do have a lot more free time now though, arbitrage tied me down a lot more than I ever thought, although I do sometimes miss it.
Anyway how are UK arbers managing to get along now I imagine it is very difficult,I'd be interested to know.

UK still has more advantages than disadvantages regarding arbing, the poc tax is not a reason to stop arbing, yes it's
a real pain and no doubt arbing is getting tougher but it's still a good number, physically not too demanding,
the hours are good and the money's good, who would want to give up a job like that?

POC is not a reason to quit even though it is a pain for UK arbers.
Arbers must always stay in touch with the developments in the game. There is a reason why almost all old-timers are breaking their records year after year, and this is because of consistency. We will see the quality of your posts here and will find out if you are tribet the old timer. Till that time, welcome to the forum.

Well it was reason enough for me or perhaps the excuse I needed to quit, possibly the way I did things didn't lend itself to change.I did only do arbitrage though not gambling or live arbitrage(which is not arbitrage anyway) which seems popular with members here.I wouldn't use an agent if you paid me.
Tough as last year was in many ways I'm glad of the change, within 10 months I'm nearly back to my normal earnings for about 25% of the time I used to spend arbing,I miss the challenge and the maths though.
I've kept my old username so those old enough can say look it's that wanker tribet from arbforum, anyway I've no axe to grind if anyone has a question I'll be happy to help if I can, glad to see some are still battling on.
Will PM you yorkjoss when the racing's over.

Lucky you!  :D

You arbed for 10+ years in golden age of arbing. Arbitrage is still a very profitable business but more challenging nowadays. In the past, people used to pick arbs like picking apples from trees. Nowadays, we're digging hard for it.

I hope you accumulated a satisfactory wealth in 10 years. Hmm, still you want to back to business for more? You're a Greedy Gordon Gecko! :D

Good luck and Welcome to forum!

Looking at the turnover we see under our affiliate accounts, I would say it's VERY lucrative still in the UK...

Not quite like that, it's clear that currently there are more obstacles.
Not long ago I did not know what to do with the fact that without e-wallets I would continue my game... but there is always a way.
Be a full time arber is possible today as it was in the golden age, just that there are more challenges now. But, and believe me it's still possible to earn a lot of money with this.
As I once said, and I have total confidence that despite all the difficulties will be possible to make a living from sports arbitrage now and in 50 years.
Sports Arbitrage is the best thing ever and an immortal one. :)
Greetings from your arber friend, Tj.
Stay focused and never give up!
