Bookmaker making mistake with bet results?!
« on: December 13, 2015, 06:05:56 AM »

Hey guys,

Today Centrebet incorrectly marked my winning bet as a lost.
They did however correct it as soon as I called them up.

I don't usually check all bet results. I just assume that if one loses, the other leg wins (assuming there's no mismatched rules, etc).
My concern is, does this happen a lot with other bookmakers?
Were they trying their luck hoping the punter doesn't realize their bet was supposed to win?

Very concerning.

Mistakes can always happen. That is the reason you should keep book of all your bets.

The nice thing about having an excel spreadsheet is that you can also keep track of how much money is which with bookmaker, where you make the most money and have a P&L at the end of the month.

There are some basic steps to do for every arber, trader, gambler...

- Make a spreadsheet and write down all your bets, when you place them (confirmed or matched/unmatched)
- Check every bet status with your bookmaker just few minutes before the event start
- Check every bet that was settled, if it is a lose, check official page or for arbers (check other side bookie).

Mistakes are possible with all bookies.

Many years ago Interwetten did the same to me. I e-mailed them and they credited half of the winnings. emailed them again and the total amount was credited to my account.

Even exchanges make mistakes.  Matchbook settled a bet on "both teams to score - NO" incorrectly last week (800 euro mistake).  After contacting PT's support their error was rectified.

You should keep track of all your bets all the time.  Accounting is a major part of this business.

Yeh I already have a bookkeeping system in place. I just didn't expect a bookmaker to make mistake on a result is all.
Thanks for all the inputs guys. I better make sure to check the result of both legs now after the match, not just the one.

Even Pinnacle makes mistakes sometimes when settling bets. Happened to me 2-3 times. Must always check manually also.

Hey Yngwie,

Was it a case of short-changing you or completely wrong result, i.e. lose instead of win for pinnacle?

It's a pain in an ass to book all your bets, but I do it. Even bigger pain is to find which bet was settled wrong.
So what I do now is every morning check all the balances in bookies and sum up everything. Otherwise I was spending half a day to go through last two weeks of bets.
As Max said, I have also been credited for bets that should have been decided as lost. And it was for more than 1k and more than once :D
