Explaining arbitrage for boxing or golf events

Thu Feb 04, 2016 12:00 pm

Hey guys,

Could someone help me to understand how I can calculate the percentage and amount's stake when I want to bet on a TIE outcome in events like golf or boxing?

As you know some sports such as golf or boxing have Tie outcome. When there are 2 bookmakers that one has Tie and another does not, there may be an arbitrage opportunity. See this example: http://uploads.im/3nj2g.jpg
I can see and understand how to calculate stake's amount for fighter-1 and fighter-2 but I do not understand how stake's amount (16.40) will be calculated for Tie outcome for william hill.

I'll appreciate it if someone helps me to understand this question.

Thanks,

If you back on a 3 way market, make sure you cover the arb by laying into a 3 way market.

If you back on a 2 way market, lay/bet the other side on a 2 way market.

Bet-3

Thu Feb 04, 2016 4:57 pm

Here is the formula that I use to get stake's amount for bet-1 and bet-2 :
Bet 1 = 1.75 >> 100/1.75 = 57.14%  >>  Stake1 = 57.14/100.99 (sum of percentage)  * $1000 ( If we want to bet $1000 in total ) = $565.83
It's the same for bet-2.

But I do not know how to get stake's amount for bet-3 (Tie in this case). Please give me the formula that will result in 16.40 for bet-3 if you know.

Thanks in advance,

stake3 = {payout (990,21) - stake1(565,83 ..refunded)}/26 ..odd of tie
