History of Asian Bookmakers?

Mon Nov 12, 2012 4:12 pm

Can someone give me a thumbnail sketch of the history of the Asian bookmakers? One never used to hear about them, and over the past few years they seem to have become global. Why and how have they come onto the world bookmaking stage?

I'm also interested in the reasons agents for these guys have now appeared. What services do they offer that aren't offered by the bookmakers they represent themselves?

Nobody knows? Nobody cares?

Maybe I should give more context. I'm an U.S.-based bettor, so am pretty limited in my perspective on the global market and I'm trying to educate myself on the bigger picture. Am I right to think that the term "Asian books" has just become common currency in the past few years? I'm just wondering if anyone can give me a very informal briefing of how this sector of the market started to register itself in Europe.

You can find the history of Gambling in Asia in any encyclopedia. I m not in a mood to say anything about this.
However, if you have any specifi question, i will be happy to answer it.
And yes, Asian bookmakers became very popular in Europe those last 5-6 years.
