A question about a possible research project

Sun Apr 10, 2022 11:39 am

Hello, :)

Here on that website in the past, there were some long-term research projects, such as Arbusers Value Betting Index and Odds4stats.
Some days ago in two threads appeared users, selling their databases.

Pre-game database in that thread: historical-pinnacle-odds-data-t7833/89070#p89070

In-play database in that thread: database-of-in-play-football-soccer-bet ... 008#p89008

I don't know why these people sell the databases. Maybe the bot-driven business is low effective lately, or the agencies are more aggressive in limiting the bot-driven business lately, or something else.
No matter the databases above contain mainly the odds, produced by "the black box", is there a possibility for another research project of some kind here on that forum? The site admin Arbusers and experienced users such as Ex-hft may be interested. If the tool or the bot in that project is successful, you may sell it in the future. Or the project Authors may offer paid subscriptions for the users of that forum.

Additional thoughts on my side.
In my view, these useful tools (the mentioned the odds databases from the users) may be powerful instruments for initial pure statistical kind of analysis only. These RAW data must be supported by the rationale and therefore the technical and the fundamental analysis in pregame mode and in in-play mode are must here. For most of the people the algorithm of the "black box", that produced these databases of the odds, is unclear and they may be trapped. Additional databases must be created prior to creating the odds. The technical analysis uses quantity indicators and may create large data, ratios, and weights. The fundamental analysis is a non-quantity one, but quality. It depends on the expertise of the observer, therefore the quality of that kind of analysis may vary. That's why I don't trust automated quality analysis.

If the admin Arbusers decides to start such kind of project, it will be very useful, at least about to odds movement and some assessments to probabilities calculation in the future, but the added value will be enlarged with the rationale behind the published odds i.e more additional indicators and assessments have to be included here.

We are running several projects simultaneously using a variety of methods and techniques. We receive ideas/suggestions/propositions for other projects almost all of the time and we examine the feasibility of each and everyone.
We run technical analysis projects in betting in the past with rather poor results. The reason of these poor results was the speed of odds movements. We now remain focused on automated value bet projects, and we examine several countries for shop betting as well.
We are always open for solid ideas.
