Santa Claus exists for Albanian fellow smart bettors. Effective as of January 1st 2023, the country will allow online sports betting, after 4 years of shut down.
Steam to legalise sports betting has been growing since the summer when a coalition of businessmen petitioned the government to ask for the regulation of the market arguing it could bring much-needed cash to the country. The petition was about sports betting only and it excluded casino games and other forms of gambling. Local and international brands will be free to operate in Albania, however it is still not clear if the government sells licenses. It worths mentioning, this initiative comes in the wake of the ''fiscal amnesty'', a dubious plan the Albanian government hopes to undertake.
Edi Rama, the Prime Minister of Albania, calls him self a socialist and has been a Basketball player among other occupations (politician, painter, writer, former university lecturer, publicist). His government is accused several times for corruption and cronyism. Last time the country tried to regulate the gambling market, some relatives of Rama were enabled in an inelegant way trying to secure a 30 years control of the market. Rama is also accused for not orienting the country to the west, focusing mainly on the paradigm of Turkey's R.T Erdogan.
Albanian smart bettors are hoping there will be no barriers to entry for bookmakers to offer their services. We (arbusers) know there are many talented and extremely sharp Albanian bettors who could flourish in the right environment. Many Albanian bettors continued doing business in a very hostile environment since 2018. We wish best of luck to the Albanian bettors and we will be here for them to share knowledge and assistance.

The blow off for Albanians came when ewallets pulled out nicely asking them to withdrew funds in bank accounts, knowing before hand this could not happen because it was already illegal. Well done PaySafe and others. They call it side profits.

Yes correct. That was the main reason why most of our Albanian smart bettors quit the game back then. I would say that only 5-10% survived. So selling licences left and right will be a step forward, but money circulation is another thing. Will ewallets be allowed once again? Will banks be allowed to accept winnings? And what if there is a tax for every money that passes from a bank. These should be made clear before the year is out, but some how I believe gambling will start and regulation will follow.

Media reports the Albanian Parliament voted for initiating a ''Commission of Licenses'' that will sell 10 online betting licenses to those applicable. Sports betting will be again legal in the country after a 6 years ban.
Here in the forum we noticed the decline of Albanian smart bettors. Maybe it is time to regroup.

i doubt this news will encourage the Tirana mafiosos to abandon their Rio villas with helicopters, women and bet365 accounts as far as the eye can see
