Re: Best Crypto Wallet for sportsbetting ?
Cheapest by far is Solana if they have an option for Sol deposits (although you will likely want to swap your Sol to USDC on jup.ag if you want stablecoins and this has liquidity costs). For Solana use Phantom Wallet which has a browser extension.
If they have fairly standard deposit options like Ethereum or BSC (ERC-20 tokens) use Metamask - it is the staple wallet for ERC-20 and has a browser extension. Avoid using Eth if you can help it though because it can be really expensive over time.
If you use LTC - atomic wallet is the go-go. It has other options like Atom ect too but you can only have one wallet per chain (to my knowledge) so might not be suitable depending on your needs.

I've heard that perhaps among the best things for someone's financial health and peace of mind is to do some research on hardware wallets.

Ah this is a good point actually arb12 ^.
I assumed your capital would be very liquid and moving a lot. Hardware wallets / cold storage are best for security (as long as you don't lose it) . Ledger is the most commonly used brand.

I suggest not keeping too much on exchanges at one time - use a soft or hard wallet.
Not your keys, not your crypto.
Re: Best Crypto Wallet for sportsbetting ?
Those are exchanges - if the exchange goes bust, you will lose most / all of your crypto (as with FTX). Binance is the cheapest of the lot above as an offramp and for trading fees. Kracken and Coinbase are well regulated so if they die, you might get something.

Re: Best Crypto Wallet for sportsbetting ?
By keeping your BTC in an exchange, you allow the exchange to cut paper BTC and sell it to others. Thus it creates an unfair inflation that turns against you and everyone else holding BTC.
You should only keep BTC in your exchange the minute you want to sell it.
And of course, as muntaface said, Not your keys, not your crypto. You will be a hostage of every crook in this market, and they are so many as recent history shows.
BTC has its unique way to magnify the advantages and the disadvantages of the markets. Because of the immaturity of most participants, human psychology is raw and this reflects on the price.
As for the title question. Ledger and Trezor would do the job.
