The removal of the max bet button has nothing to do with bots. At least with the serious bots.
The bots will never go to the max bet option unless we are talking about stupid markets. But even if a stupid market is used, the average bet is so low that no real harm would be.
Of course clever bookmakers like bet365 will always change the paths but the only trouble they cause is more time for developers to walk around.
So in reality, what they do, is create new fees for the bot developers and try to discourage them from multiple changes. Very clever. Well done Bet365. But IMO, this could discourage only the small fishes. The sharks will always pay these fees.
If Bet365 wants to defend itself, it must change the odds. Then lets see who stays in the game.

Theoriticaly, Bet365 could change the paths each day simply by asking all players to tick a box or accept new terms. That of course would damage them traffic wise, but on the other hand would protect them for at least 1 day. Through trial and error they could simply test the number of days where the traffic damage worths it compared to the money saved and then select this exact number of days. For the shake of the argument, lets suppose these number of days are 30, and now think or try to remember when was the last time you had to accept a new term?
