Betfair

Tue Feb 08, 2011 6:26 pm

Betfair Exchange is the biggest in the market. It has the depth market and the volumes that an arber needs in order to buy or sell bets. The variety of the markets is huge, but still there are some markets missing. No need to mention something about limits. You will never be limited by Betfair and you will always have the highest stakes here, with the exception of some Asian Handicaps and American markets. The more you bet with Betfair, the better odds you get, since your volumes are connected with the commissions that you pay. Having a lower commission rate will offer you great profits. For a full timer like me, the difference between 2% and 5% is almost 20K.
In reality, this commission rate makes Betfair our counterpart automatically. Betfair might win more money from our activities than we will. Like it or not, this is the reality, and you can’t escape from it. We need Betfair. There is no other alternative. Only Betdaq/Betmate could replace Betfair, but still it will not be the real thing. Lately, Smarkets appear to be a serious competitor.

I received an e-mail from them apologizing for their failure on Saturday the 12th of March. Probably all of you received it too.

Facts:
Website down for more than 5 hours, during arber's rush hours.
200-300 millions of euros in open bets. Luckily, i wasn't exposed there, but i can't imagine my agony having 10k in open bets. I dont know what was the luck of these open bets, but Betfair could suck all the bets that they wanted to suck, and leave the rest intact. Those of you who had aopen bets during that day, know better. I m not saying that Betfair did something bad, but when a failure of this scale happens, i become very suspicious.
It was the 3rd weekend in a row with such a problem. Previous weekends betfair was down for 1 hour almost.

It is a pitty that Betfair has no competitors. Betdaq is not a competitor. If there was a strong competitor in the market, Betfair would be more carefull.
Yellow card Betfair.

After Saturday's fiasco, Betfair comes back offering no juice to selected events. T&Cs need to be studied carefully. My trust in Betfair is in all times low.

Hello.

I need  Betfair historical data  and I have no possibility to obtain it. I don't have the 100 points required to gain access to this data and I really need them. I really need this data to test a strategy on Betfair. If someone can help me with this data I will be very grateful.

Thanks

A newbie's question concerning Betfair's commission. If my commission is 4% and I am inactive for a long time,  will it increase because of the weekly 15% reduction of the points?

I'm a newbie, and bet wit low to medium stakes (with max. 50EUR). I checked how the commision rate is calculated at Betfair, and it seems to me, I have no chance of significantly lowerin it on the short term. But in most cases the 5% commission takes all of my profit.
So I guess Betfair is not for me, or am I wrong?

Try Smarkets, Betdaq or Matchbook.

While we already cover first two, we will add the latter one in the next few days.

Hello guys,I'm a newbie...I have 2 days in this business for a week I bought software from RebelBetting and put 2-3 odds on that I won, I had a problem with the limit that can put the bet on some sites but I started learning and problem more at Betfair. I have two questions for you if you could help me I would be eternally grateful.

1. Can you tell me what are those sites that can see the maximum bet? For example at bet365 can see it (I set the example with an image) or even to say which is my maximum bet? What I found is: Pinnacle 10Bet, 12Bet, Coral, SBO. May know more?

2. Betfair does not get along at all, I did a screen shoot to better understand I do not know English very well I was in Romania. I do not understand that I choose, I realized that I look at software RebelBetting left (where the red arrow in the screen shoot I did) you have to bet on Lay but the 3-way bet lucru.Daca not understand a first site (Coral) I bet that team will win "the Carer Deportes Union" making a single bet of 46 euros on Betfair and I wrote down where I share the program and I said betting. But being a 1x2 bet / 3-way, if tied teams will I still win?

Wait your answer please and I hope I posted in the right place.

Experimenting with trading and a question comes up.

What if I lay a bet and let's say that when I have to back it I do not have sufficient funds, but I do green up. Will my BACK bet be settled or not?
