Bookmakers and your mobile phone

Thu Mar 09, 2023 2:41 pm

I spoke a lot about Big Data companies and the way they help bookmakers to suppress smart betting and gambling. Today I will update you on one of the edges of these companies during these times and I will present another factor adding or taking points from your profile. This factor could be the reason why your account is limited even before bet #1.

in the year 2019, 50% of all bets were placed via a desktop. Today, 93-94% of all bets are placed via a mobile device. This is the reason why most TV advertisements are including smart phones. I know that smart bettors prefer using desktops, one of the reasons is their need to keep up with 1 or 2 alert services at the same time. This might be a weak spot for them.

It is logic to assume, those who go with the zeitgeist will use a mobile phone to place their bets. Processors and Big Data companies realised the importance of mobile phones and they quickly moved the center of gravity of their operations closer to these devices. That is why bookmakers now have access to third party data which can authenticate and verify users globally using their devices and phone numbers. Notice, not all bookmakers can afford these services. That is why smaller bookmakers with limited budgets are not following quickly.

A mobile phone number reveals a tone of information for its owners. In most cases, it is unique to them and comes with a traceable history which can help Big Data companies to calculate risks, then quickly shared with bookmakers even at the sign up point. A verification of a mobile number could take place within some milliseconds, and then shared with 3rd parties and bookmakers.

Whenever you login to your account, your mobile device will me matched, or not matched, with the data these companies keep. This is one of the reasons why many bookmakers insist not using a 2FA (two factor authentication), they simply know if it is you who is placing the bet or someone else. This reflects to their Terms of Use as well, carefully compiled by expensive law firms. The lack of 2FA is offering a better user experience to most square bettors, who are placing their bets between pizza and beer.

Have no doubt, with the majority of bettors (93-94%, soon to go even higher) using their mobile devices, Big Data companies and especially those focusing on global mobile numbering intelligence, verify and authenticate users globally at the point of registration and then every time they log into their betting accounts.

Bookmakers and processors are buying specific ''packages'' of services, depending on their needs, their risks and their resources. I can only assume some of these packages include information of how old a phone number is, if it is used regularly, or if it is simply there to serve betting operations.

I would also like to remind you some of my older articles, relevant to this one: player-s-risk-score-starting-from-accou ... 696#p52696

Nah I think it's simpler than that. They follow sharps too, when you place value bet based on sharp reference, they know it... They certainly collect a lot of data from mobile devices but primarily for marketing purposes, learning what allures squares to place bets, etc. Of course it could be different with different bookies but I suspect that the most effective way to spot sharp bettors is to follow sharp bookies
