Hello people, i want to share with you the results of an experiment i made.
I noticed that, since i'm limited on the main bookies, every time i place a bet on value odds, after few seconds the odds are realigned with all the others.
So i went to a friend and tried to do the same from his non-limited account, and the bookie needed much longer time to adjust the odds.
If this happened once it could have been a coincidence, but it happened several times, so it demonstrates that once we are profiled as arbers, the bookmakers use us as free alerts.
They let us place ridicolous stakes at value odds, but we save them a lot of money because this allows them to adjust the odds before someone else places a larger stake.

Re: Bookmakers are using arbers as free alert
most serious bookmakers already monitor the markets at pinnacle, betfair and other sharp books and they compare it to their own and they know when their odds are +ev, so when you bet on their wrong odds for them it is a confirmation that you are a sharp bettorSte wrote: ↑Thu Jun 12, 2025 11:53 amHello people, i want to share with you the results of an experiment i made.

Re: Bookmakers are using arbers as free alert
you are right, i agree.
but this doesnt explain the difference in the time needed to adjust the odds.
why if i place exactly the same bet from another not limited account, the reaction of the book is different?

They do the same with betting shops, but who cares. You can exploit that, if you want to. Be the one who makes biggest bets first, move their lines, let them feel the pain.

Re: Bookmakers are using arbers as free alert
And that is exactly my point. You shouldn't bother at all with this things. It is up to you to decide should you participate / being exploited as free service or not.
Very often I just observe. If 0.5% arb turns into 2% it is not for me to decide, but I am not pointing the arb. Is someone else has a bigger bet - I am happy for him. There is absolutely no point in placing a bet of 100 EUR for 1% arb, and then put the bookie on high alert.
There is a right way to play the Game, and a wrong way. But it is hard to convince players to cooperate in this type of games........

True, especially for Pinnacle that uses a number of smart bettors as a free alert service. This is going on for 15+ years now.

Re: Bookmakers are using arbers as free alert
I have an interesting experience: there are 2 bookies with the same owner, the same platform, ect. The old site is one of the pioneers in my country and maybe the most significant one, growing to neighbouring countries. The new one is small, still growing. They both offer very high odds, the new one even better than the old. I had an account in the old one for 10+ years (before i discovered smart betting). A few months ago strange process began: whenever i wanted to place a bet, it took 10+ seconds, like on a live game, and most of the times the odds dropped. Shortly after (a few weeks) i got limited. Then i went to the new site and started mixing with mug betting. At first it didn't even accept accumulators without lowering every selection's odds, then it started acting normal, taking singles immediately, without changing the odds, then again with the slow acceptance of the bets and lowering the odds. Strange thing is that the old site most of the time it changed its odds only for me, if someone else tries to place a bet it would be on the better odds. The new one acts mixed, in many cases even if i don't accept the new odds, they don't return to their original price, but remain lowered as presented to me when i tried to place a bet. The other strange thing is that both of those sites are absolutely connected, but still i manage to place a few hundred euro on the new one and wasn't immediately limited, even tho i can't place a cent on the old. So basically i have no problem being used as a free alert IF I'm able to place a bet on value odds, or even on slightly lowered for me if they are the best on the market at a certain time.
