Country restricted from certain bookmakers, VPN workaround?

Sun Feb 26, 2023 3:40 pm

I'm finding a lot of profitable arb bets between 7-9% but they require use of bookmakers (10x10bet, 1xBet, Alphabet, VOBET, etc.) that my country (UK) is restricted on.

I am able to access all of them by using a VPN set to Canada, but wondering if this will cause problems further down the line, when I sign up and enter address, or when I deposit / withdraw. Could anyone please provide some info on this workaround and why so many country-specific restrictions? Is using a VPN valid or will I just be banned ?

I think problems are likely.

Firstly, you'll probably have to provide false info to be able to register, since UK won't appear in the country drop down. Maybe you manage to somehow get past registration and deposit. When you withdraw your funds you'll likely be asked to provide ID and a proof of address for verification. If you send a document with a UK address on it it will be very difficult to get any of your funds back. Even if you did somehow manage to convince them to pay you, this isn't sustainable. The probability of getting stiffed by the bookie has increased so much that it negates the value your 7-8% arbs.

The reason UK is often restricted is due to the licensing requirements over there. Only bookmakers with a UKGC licence are allowed to operate. There are many shady bookmakers that ignore a country's licence requirements, but with the UK, even those tend to steer clear.

As for just playing with a VPN in general, it can be useful in some circumstances (I don't think in yours). But even VPNs have their own set of risks associated with them. If an operator detects that you are using a VPN, which is easy to do so, they will suspect you of wrongdoing and it increases the chance of getting your money withheld. Many also have clauses in the TCs specifically banning their use.

Unless you are able to provide documents which match the details you registered with at these sites, I would not do this.

Before anything else you should check the list of your bookmakers and find out what their reliability is. From a quick look I can tell some of these bookmakers are not reliable and you are looking for troubles.

As far as it concerns the use of VPN, a rapidly growing number of players are accessing bookmakers using VPN services. They have their reasons to do so, but I believe this is the wrong thing to do, and I will explain why.

Bookmakers are 1 step ahead of their clients. Therefore, they are able to blacklist all IPs used from VPN services. But at the same time you might wonder, why am I allowed to access a bookmaker with a VPN? You have to be sure that they know from the very start that you use a VPN service to bypass restrictions. When you request a payout, problems will arise. Yes, they allow you to bet now because you contribute to their liquidity, this is an asset all bookmakers are eagerly looking for. But if you beat them hard and when you are just about to request a withdrawal, then they might start asking all the weird questions you could possibly imagine.

And by the way. I am noticing there is a big number of questions about VPN services and gambling, so I am adding the following links in regards to this matter:
