Ewallets decline in the gambling sphere

Thu Aug 26, 2021 10:54 am

Those who are deeper in these business already know it, but let me highlight it once again. I really don’t see any bright future for Ewallets in the gambling sphere. Let’s have a look at the sequence of the events.

1. EU regulation magnified accountability in all parties. This made managements tougher. C level executives are determined not to take any risk and they are ready to ban legitimate businesses even if the slightest doubt is there.
2. The EU regulation is, by default, a guideline for a number of key countries (UK, AUS, etc). These countries and jurisdictions got tougher also.
3. Let’s face it, Bet365 is a cornerstone in the gambling business and their late 2019 decision to reduce businesses with Ewallets was a major blow. I estimate that Bet365 represented 65 to 75% of all Ewallets volumes. The figures are arbitrary of course, but this is what my crystal ball says. Notice, my crystal ball is usually right and accurate.
4. Other bookmakers followed the Bet365 paradigm for good reasons and this created a new wave after the Bet365 tsunami.
5. Following the zeitgeist of our times (SPACs etc), companies decided to explore the stock markets and as a result, new regulation is inflicted.
6. Some new Ewallets and fintec companies tried to fill the gap, but they failed to do so due to their questionable practices. In some cases, their potential clients (bookmakers, casinos, etc) are not even keen to answer to email and phone calls.
7. Now I know some people will get mad, once again. The locusts finally killed the cow that fed us all. The majority of locusts are now retired, or changed business orientation. Most of them jumped to the crypto spheres. This might be the only hope for a rebirth in the gambling business.
8. If there is any possibility for a rebirth, this will come from a decentralised system. We have discussed about that several times, but seems to me the process is very slow.

Thoughts?

Seems very unlikely to me that decentralized betting, with no KYC, will create soft books.

I think CryptoCurrency has taken over E-Wallets more freedom of the control of your money.

Decentralized systems are not competitive because they cant offer a lot of different betting lines. Its the same excitement when betfair was founded. It was said that betting exchanges were the future but in reality this scenario did not play out. Mugs want ease of use. And no decentralized system can give it. Old locusts have for sure migrated to other industries since they have made a lot of money and they are making 1% of net worth monthly maybe ? Anyone would change industry. But surely there are a lot of new locusts which have started operating more recently and are eager to destroy what has remained of the cow.

You can be sure that there are still locusts/mafias (whatever you want to call them) on the scene.. I estimate that less than 30% of old locusts are still operating, but with a total different approach mainly betting on local bookmakers across different countries with cash deposits or bank accounts.

About e-wallets, it´s the end of an era... Some locusts got rich and if they were intellligent and didn´t spend their money on cars and hoes but they invested it on real estate or stocks/ETFs and some crypto ,then they can enjoy retirement.

In order to have a book or an exchange you need market makers. Who will take that role in the crypto sphere?
With 8% juice of course everything looks better, but it's far from being competitive

At the moment, cryptocurrencies are being made specifically for online gaming. For example, CasinoCoin is a relatively new coin that’s powered by the XRP Ledger. With the addition of coins specifically designed for gambling, we can only assume that other advances will come in the future for sure.

Regardless of what exactly happens, we know that online gamblers will eventually choose to use cryptocurrency, because of privacy and safety, anonymity, transparency speed, cost-effectiveness, freedom etc.

Blockchain technology is one of the greatest innovations of the 21century. As the benefits will continue to unveal, the only thing for sure is that the betting industry will be at the forefront of this.

Never have i enjoyed betting as a leisure activity more...i changed to crypto betting a while ago, i found a broker that i am very satisfied with and i don't consider returning in the old ways soon.
