How to avoid/delay the suspension of your white-label account

Fri Dec 13, 2024 2:55 pm

It occurs every now and then and it is a pain in the @ss really. Especially when it happens on a Friday afternoon and you have a busy weekend ahead, while open bets are must be covered asap.

It is my understanding that suspension of accounts happen more often with white-labels compared to real authentic Betfair accounts. As I monotonically repeat, agent style of betting comes with an additional layer of risk, and these suspensions are part of this risk.

I believe it is not possible to completely avoid these checks and suspensions. Even if you are the paradigm of a bettor, a random check will be with you at a certain point in time. But it is possible to delay them to a large extend.

Avoiding suspensions and random checks from Betfair is challenging, as they are typically part of the platform's compliance with regulatory standards, fraud prevention, and anti-money laundering (AML) obligations. However, there are some best practices you can follow to minimise the likelihood of triggering these checks:

1. Provide accurate information early: Ensure your account details are complete and truthful. Any discrepancies can raise flags during routine audits. Complete the Know Your Customer (KYC) process proactively by uploading/sending all required identification and proof of address documents when prompted.

2. Avoid Irregular Betting Patterns: Betting patterns that deviate significantly from average users might attract attention. Of course, I am not talking about simple arbitrage or value betting. These are routine today, but let me mention some examples that will draw attention at your account:
a. Avoid taking odds that are obviously away from the general consensus. These odds might be there because of fund passers who have other things in their minds. There is a Russian proverb full of wisdom: Only the cheese in the mousetrap is free. Leave that cheese for others. Don't be their mouse.
b. Avoid exploiting bots that went crazy. Back in the days, 15-20 years ago, I was deliberately searching for crazy bots that would make me rich quickly. These days are gone guys, I am sorry. Of course you can exploit bots that work very near in the market consensus and within a market of lavish liquidity. But anything outside this rule is dangerous.
c. Avoid suspicious markets that could be considered fixed. Avoid court-siding and fund passing. I know these markets are expanding lately, but why get caught like this?

3. Avoid accessing the exchange from inconsistent IP addresses.

4. Maintain a polite communication with the agent. The agent is with you, not against you. The agent will not be happy to lose a valuable customer.
