Hierarchy of sharp books?

Sat Nov 01, 2014 6:38 am

Hi

I don't arb, I find arbs and then value bet the soft book. I find this provides a much better ROI, and means you get limited slower (mainly because you start betting smaller amounts).

Basically, I find arbs with any soft book (will hill, gamebookers, Vbet, etc) and sharp book (pinny, sbo, dafa, 188). I never bet an arb with just two soft books.

I also bet the 188bet offering when there is an arb (it only exists for a short time) between 188bet and pinny/sbo/dafa. Finally, I bet on dafabet if there is an arb between pinny/sbo and dafa).

So my hierarchy of sharps to softs goes like this:

Pinny/SBO, Dafa, 188bet, any other non-asian book.

My question for you guys is, who is sharper for football between pinny and sbo? Sure I don't find arbs there often, but if a line is 1.97/1.97 at pinny, and 2.03/1.95 at sbo, if pinny is sharp, the 2.03 is probably a value bet (on the basis that removing the vig from pinny provides "true" odds of 2.

So, who is sharper? Any thoughts?

Betfair
Pinn-Sbo-IBC all at the same level
188 If you consider this a sharp.

Interesting that you put betfair above the others. Is that because it has the most volume? Or because the others follow betfair? Both?

Most of the time Betfair follow others.

Most likely from what I've observed, it has the highest volume.

In that scenario my suspicion is the unjuiced odds would normally be somewhere between the two.

True, so maybe fair odds are 2.02, instead of 2.03 offered. I think there's usually still value at one of the books though.

If you have a very small edge the swings will eventually eat your bankroll.

Obviously you do kelly bets to ensure that your bankroll grows at the maximum rate.

From your experience, what are the sharpest and softest books for tennis?

Small sample size, but Betfair sportsbook (not the exchange) is soft, pinnacle is sharp. 10 bet is also soft.
