2014, how was your year? and 2015???

without having to talk about figures (of course unless you want to) how did you find arbing in 2014?

the year started badly for me with skill cashback promo's ending and the demise of the once great Beatbookies
alert service, and throughout the year money making/arbing opportunities disappearing as bookies got smarter
and meaner and of course for UK arbers losing all the good sharp bookmakers because of the new poc tax

I thought in 2014 I would struggle and that the good times may have gone but surprised myself with another very good year,
matching the previous year, despite all the negative stuff arbing continued as ever and having the world cup this year
was a massive arbing bonus

for 2015 I have the same pessimism I had in 2014 and keep thinking surely this "free money" has to come to an end,
and that the soft bookies will get smarter, I hope once again I am wrong.

good luck arbing in 2015, especially to the newbies, treat every account as if it were your last ;)

I exchanged ideas with many of our members and I can surely say that the old timers and experienced players had a very good season. Most of the old timers made new profit records during 2014. What is more interesting for 2014, is that many of the old timers had a +50% or +100% or even bigger performance. It is a general phenomenon to had a better year than the previous, but 2014 was indeed a great year for the experienced guys. This is not my feeling...it is what most of the people are telling to me.
On the other hand, the environment is getting more hostile for the new guys. It is more difficult now to start a pro gambling carreer than what it was 2-3-5 years ago.
As for Betabookies...its decadence started in 2013, but we have some new comers that offered great services to the community. BetBurger is now a big player vis-a-vis Rebelbetting. No question about it, the service that they offer is indeed good. BetLinker is offering more tailor made services and oddstorm became a must for live betting. A couple-3 more services are in the market as well. I dont believe that Beatbookies created a vacuum in the maret, simply because the other services were good enough to take a bigger part of the pie, offering good services.
The UK gambling law was a big problem, but furtunately it is influencing only the UK arbers.
The e-wallets cash back promos came to an end after a common decision between the big 2, but free money of other kind took their places,
For now, It seems that 2015 will be a good year too, with the exception of a summer without a WC.
Any opinion is more than welcome.

IMHO: the faster sharks will get even stronger - the slower gonna be lower or die completely due to misc. changes again...

2014 was my 1st year as an arber... in this same year and almost by necessity I invested everything I had:
Time, money and dedication.
I was fortunate and wise enough to do this full time and support myself.
I'm also in part of the opinion of yorkjoss and I think that if one day this ''free money'' has to come to an end I don't know what to do with my life.
But there is the other part of me that wants to believe that this will not happen and the fact that soft bookies are in constant improvement and being more smart everyday is a good thing because it forces us to work harder and be better day after day in order to bypass all the obstacles that surely it will cross on our way.
As I said earlier in a post, sports arbitrage will not die and who knows how to make money now will adapt and continue to do it in 40 or 50 years from now.
Is very difficult to reach a point where no more is possible to do sports arbitrage...
It's only my opinion, I hope to be right.
Good luck for what is coming next year, and that 2015 be better than 2014.
*Once again sorry for the mistakes, I am Portuguese.
Cheers!

Maybe... and if you are talking about making money inside the world of sports betting, I have some difficulties in trading for example.
I know it's not only that, there are other forms of advantage play.
But like I said, sports arbitrage will never die. Of course I also want to point that it is just my opinion.
Well, with that said I like to know the administrator's opinion about the future of sports arbitrage :P

I was a little bit pessimistic about 2014 but had a much better year (made %53 more profit) then 2013.

My expectations about 2015..I'm an optimistic person in nature actually but I have to be realistic. I know things will be harder in 2015. I hope time proves me wrong again but I think it won't be good as 2014, maybe even 2013. Change, such an unpleasent word. Books are getting meaner and wiser. Most tactics/strategies I used to, no longer exists right now. Sure, we find new weapons also..

Anyway, I hope you all had a profitable 2014. I wish everyone a profitable 2015! I wish everyone a happy new year with your loved ones. I decided to slow down my operation a little bit in 2015, will spend more time with my family and will work less.

First year for me and it was a mixed bag ending with a lot of optimism.

Started off with a bang, then slowed down to a crawl and then picked up again as I discovered new methods and new services only accessible via agents. Looking forward to 2015.

I still have started Arbing, but overall, I think it's been an average year for me. Still learning the curves per say.
