Soft books

Thu Jan 29, 2015 7:21 pm

I'm sure the regs are fed up of obvious questions so I apologize in advance....

What are soft books and sharp books and what exactly do they mean?

I'm a newbie but am putting a lot of time and effort into this venture. I did play poker professionally for 4-5 years so feel I have a good background for this type of thing....

So far I am just using bmbets and myarbs and betting about £100 per bet and so far so good but obviously I understand it won't always be plain sailing.....marathon bet already have restricted me to £5 per bet!!!

Cheers.

Rob.

These are soft books :)

Sharp books are books who manage their odds sharply , they have low juice, but you will find almost never arbs between them since they move their odds very fast adjusting to market movements.

Soft books are books who do not react as fast to odds changes and therefore some of their odds remain 'out of line' offering arbs.  They will limit you sooner or later if you bet on these odds, since you will obviously beat them, which is the opposite of what they want. Some of them limit you right after first bet since they know patterns of players who use these lines.

Let us know if it is clear and if you have additional questions.
