England Shops

Tue May 12, 2015 11:53 am

Hi All,

Put this @ newbies questions because the answer is probably easy. Last weekend I was in England for visiting premier league of darts. I was there and like I already knew there are everywhere gambling shops from Euro/Soft books (Ladbrokes/Coral/Williamhill/Paddypower). Now I logged in on my sure bet monitor and looked up some arbs with this books and found surebets. I made valuebets from them to only take the soft side and went to the shop and but them on a live stroke. In one shop the employee called and accepted the first and second, but after the thirth he was done with it and wouldn't accept it any more. I went to another shop and could place al my bets without calling or hesitating.

Putted some small money on this, but from the 9 bets I got 9 right (lol), with a ROI of 150%. I don't live in the illusion that you always got everything right, but playing valuebets is +ev. So why is not everybody doing this in England? What is the catch? You can't get kicked and you can't get limited (you just go one street further and put it up there again).

Asking this because I going to study abroad and by choosing an university, this could be a hugh motivation to go to England.

Like to hear from you.

Actually its pretty much like betting online.
You will get limited, then you will banned, and then you will need friends to go and place the bets for you.
Sure maybe you will find a loophole in a place or two, but thats what we are finding online anyway every now and then.

Have no experience with these either but I've heard the odds on the machine are cut compared to the price you can get over the counter at the time. They seem to be pretty much accum machines for extremely square punters that can't even fill out a slip. These might be coming more common as the games machines are outright robbery, this is a more subtle way of stacking the odds to exploit square players and problem gamblers.

If you try to bet large amounts all the time, they have to phone these bets through to their traders to be accepted, and if this is done regularly, you will stand out. Once you get limited at a Ladbrokes shop for example, then your photo is sent around all the Ladbrokes shops in the local area so they also know to refuse your bets.

It can be done though, it just isnt very worthwhile anymore compared to how easy arbing online is. There is a lot of travelling involved and by the time you get to the shops the odds have usually changed. There is also the security issue of having to take large amounts of cash with you. If you want to pursue it, i would suggest moving around your local area a lot so you dont always hit the same shops, and dont try to stake too much in a single shop. Hit lots of shops for small amounts. Having some friends work with you will let you hit multiple shops at the same time, to reduce the chance of odds changing, and wasted journeys to other shops.

One thing i was going to look at when i have more time is the Self-Service betting terminals - im not really sure how these work yet, but i guess they could be exploited if they have a wide choice of markets and can accept decent stakes. Anyone used these?
Thanks for your fast reaction all. Self terminal are no go, comes from a oddsmaker from Australia the women told me odds are always different, so somebody need to 'crack' which oddsmakers this is and put this in a surebetmonitor and you got yourself a cashcow ;).

But like I said I got a women who didn't care about the amount and odds, she just accepted everything. You can hit them hard and then just leave right? Dropping odds isn't the case they are so slow it's not normal. But they really ban people from shops? Is that even legal to do?

http://www.best-gaming.com/en/products/BGT-Terminal.html

If im not mistaken, all the odds on all that type of terminal come from those guys.
Ladbrokes, Paddy, boyle, same odds on terminals.
Someone that figured out how to scan these could be taking advantage.

The odds on the self service terminals are usually really bad, however I'm sure once in a while they may offer an arb.

Does anyone know if you can view these odds online that the have for these machines.

Well, i tried emailing the company a couple of times but never got a reply... They should be providing sports odds to an online sportsbook somewhere.

About the woman cashier accepting bets, the management will soon educate her or or fire her.

Does anyone know for a fact that they can "limit" you in a shop?
I'm pretty sure it's illegal to deny/alter services to one customer without any justification ( "he's a winner" it's not a justification that will hold on court )

I tried once to go bet in a shop in London, but the prices were lower than the ones online, so I assumed that's always the case, making the shop useless for arbing...

That's what they say, doesn't mean it will stand in a court.
Same with T&C. Many websites say all sort of weird stuff in T&C, doesn't mean you cannot challenge them in a court.
And in our case, I don't see how they can make a case against someone when he's just "winning".
Maybe someone with more legal skills can make this clear.

Obviously, they rely on the fact that no one will challenge them and take them to the courts...
