What is the best way to use a free half point?

Fri Nov 27, 2015 2:25 am

If you get a free half point at a book for a game, what is the best way to use it?  Is it best to use it bet for value such as an nfl game where you go from -3 to -2.5 or 3 to +3.5?
=2.5

What about games where you could get -3 on team A with the free half point and notice another book offers +4.  Thus original line at book A is -3.5.  Thus you get free 1/2 point and you lay 3 with this team.  But another book offers +4.  Do you bet both and hope it lands on 3 or 4?

The other thing i thought was well you could get a free half point on say a team laying -3 points at even money.  Then say you do it to lay -2.5 at even money.  You notice other books offer +3 at -120.  So would you try to hit both -2.5 at even money and +3 at -120 to try and hope the team wins by 3 so you win this bet and push the other?  The other thing i see is what if the other side you could get +2.5 at +105 odds.  So at the book that offers you 1/2 point, well you can bet it at even money at -2.5 and arb with other book +2.5 for +105 odds for arbitrage though its small profit.  Or would it be best to just bet -2.5 straight up since you get to go from -3 to -2.5?  What if this was nba or ncaab or ncaaf?
