Government of Albania decided that from 1st of January 2019 there will be no betting in Albania. Betting shops and online betting included.

Are they shutting down everything related to gambling?
I thought that all gambling venues will be kicked out of residential areas and onto the outskirts of cities. Do you have more news on Albania to ban online gambling amidst accusations for cronyism

In the beginning the plan was to close only betting shops(offline gambling). There were rumors that the government with this was trying to monopolize all gambling in one company which had the only online gambling licence in Albania (Bastarena). So the government to put off the rumors decided to close online gambling too. From 1 January 2019 all sports betting of any kind is banned in Albania. You are not allowed to play online at non Albanian bookies too. The government said they would track the transactions via banks.
There will be allowed only casinos in five star hotels. But they need to apply for special license. Even in this casinos sports betting is not allowed as i mentioned.

Banks can be bypassed easily. I suppose that many players will jump to the agents.
