if you haven't played at betfair before, it sounds like they made an error. reply to them you didn't appeal anything, and are a new customer.

No, what I appealed is their decision of closing my account. They just reply it's a business decision and they will give no further information.

Something has triggered their fraud alert, and you will have to find an alternative site or way to use Betfair.

Did you have an account with them in the past?
Did you use by any chance a VPN upon your registration with them?
Maybe some big data is involved.

Re: Betfair doesn't want me
Did you buy your PC/Laptop or any login device second hand (Mac address may be triggering flag)?
Does anyone else in your household that uses Betfair who may had their account closed, be it for self exclusion or fraud?
Perhaps your details (full name, email etc previously flagged).
Did you try registering with different email and home address after clearing cache and cookies on your device?
Are you using Spanish or any other country IP through a vpn ? (This one is most likely cause, considering your previous answers)

It's an urban myth a site can get the mac adress from a device...but it's a rumour that's been kept alive for a long time. It's technically impossible.betmanforever wrote:

Re: Betfair doesn't want me
I call it MAC, you call whatever you like.
But I'm 100% sure a technologicly advance company like Betfair uses more than the IP to rely on when it comes to detecting fraud etc, especially where the money (Premium charge etc) is involved.
There is definetely a remote forensic check is involved and that's a fact.
You may say some get away with things, but they can only get away with what's within acceptable tolerance. (This is a topic of it's own)

As far as IP is concerned the law allows it. Because there are many companies which do not have the right to operate in every country. So for this reason it is legal to trace your IP.
Re: Betfair doesn't want me
It is technically possible. But it is not legal. So high profile bookmakers do not do it. If it was proved they do it, it would ruin their business since it is a direct violation of privacy. And we live in times where privacy is great public interest. So they would not take such great risk.Alfa1234 wrote:

It's not possible without installing software, it cannot be done from simply activating some scripts on their site. Hence, impossible.

Re: Betfair doesn't want me
Don't Heritage use some sort of ip identification and phone call to verify? You have to login via a static IP address and call the when you register, that's as invasive as any mac device identifying technique.
