OPAP is about to acquire 37% of Stoiximan Greek media reports.
Negotiations that had begun a few weeks ago have been completed and it is a matter of time for the announcements to be made. The transaction concerns the sale of the 37% stake held by the businessman Fotis Bobolas, who is leaving Stoiximan in full.
Details of the deal are not yet fully documented.
Some excellent conditions are created for a wider cooperation between the two sides within and outside the Greek market, at the level of both strategic and technological development.
Stoiximan is expanding rapidly in Eastern and Central Europe, currently employs more than 450 employees in 5 European markets (Greece, Cyprus, Romania, Germany and Austria) in which it operates Betano (betano.com), the international brand of Stoiximan. Stoiximan holds a leading market position in Romania, while Betano's entry to the German market took place a month ago, accompanied by a sponsorship agreement with the VfB Stuttgart 1893 football club. It is believed that Betano will entry another European online market by the end of the year, this could be Portugal.

Re: OPAP - Stoiximan deal
I m wondering what is going to happen to the 0% margin events often offered by Stoiximan. OPAP is notorious for the rip off margins.

Re: OPAP - Stoiximan deal
Official announcements took place today.
Stoiximan management will stay in place and will continue operating as an independent entity from OPAP. I interpret that as a signal that nothing will change in the odds and the services that Stoiximan clients receive. i believe the 0% margin events will continue, at least for the foreseeable future.

On a deeper analysis, this deal looks like position taking before something bigger.

Re: OPAP - Stoiximan deal
Bobolas sales shares of all the the companies that he is involve. The question is that: why Mellisanidis had to buy this shares. Is it possible to see stoiximan’s shops in the future? Only Opap has the rights to do that in Greece.

It is position taking before the entry of a new big player in the market. Do not expect Stoiximan shops in Greece.surbetis wrote: Bobolas sales shares of all the the companies that he is involve. There are additional developments in Greek Betting market prior to what is expected to be the final regulation acts. The regulation is now under public consultation (unfortunatelly only in greek) http://www.opengov.gr/minfin/?p=8801.
Cosmote, the largest telecom operator in Greece, subsidiary of Deutse telecom appears to be preparing to enter the Betting market and is supposed to be in contact with Intralot a Greek based betting services company link https://banks.com.gr/simainoun-gamoi-ote-intralot-kai-opap-stoiximan-giati-tora/
