Live basketball Handicaps or O/U?

Tue Nov 13, 2018 3:34 pm

I've just started practising with live basketball arbing and i can already see how it can be very profitable. But i'm finding it tricky to gauge which method or market to use.

Are there any specific rules of thumb people apply, and which is the better place to focus on, over/under quarter/total points, or handicaps? Is there any techniques anyone is willing to share to help push me in the right direction?

I've been live arbing for nearly a year now and been doing well, but using an alert service. I wanted to find something interesting where i can go looking for the opportunities instead of waiting for them to flash on my screen, which can get a little tedious as i'm sure a lot of you know. Live basketball seems it could be the place, but just need some pointers!  :)

Would be much appreciated

Basketball trading is the 4th most popular market of trading after Football, tennis and horses. I doubt anyone is willing to share openly secrets and techniques as this might damage business.

You need to have good knowledge of basketball as a sport, ideally following 3-4 teams and study them in depth to see reactions and psychology under specific circumstances.
If you are not specialised in a low caliber local team, you might need to search in markets with significant volumes. That would be NBA and Euroleague, and then I would add the biggest European championships like Spain, Greece and Italy. Germany, France and Russia are lower in this categorisation.
I would focus on ML and O/Us. The other markets might not have liquidity and you could be trapped easily. Maybe leave alone secondary markets until you gain some experience.
I would suggest teams of equal potential, games that will be tight and might turn out to be derbies. As far as I know, games where there is a clear favourite are not offering much for trading.
We have to see how NCAA goes these years with the new US betting environment, so better leave it alone for now.
