Did anyone else receive this from skrill ?

Fri Jan 04, 2019 11:41 am

We are contacting you to let you know that we are making changes to some of the Skrill Account Terms of Use that govern our relationship with you and the way we provide the Skrill Services.

The changes will come into effect on March 13, 2019.

You can view the new Skrill Account Terms of Use by clicking on the link above. We have also taken this opportunity to provide you with a summary of the changes below.
Skrill Service Fees
The following change shall apply to the service fee referenced in the Skrill Account Terms of Use:

Your Skrill Account is free for personal use as long as you login or make a transaction at least every 12 months. If you don't do this, a monthly service fee of EUR 5.00 (or equivalent) will be deducted monthly from the funds in your Account.
Termination or suspension of your Skrill Account
We may now at any time suspend or terminate your Skrill Account without notice if we have reason to believe that another Skrill or NETELLER account held by you has been used for any fraudulent activity, money laundering, terrorism financing or other criminal activity.

These changes will come into effect on March 13, 2019 and will automatically apply to the services Skrill provides to you. Your continued use of the Skrill services after March 13, 2019 will be taken as your acceptance of the above changes. Please get in contact with us should you need further information.

Regards,

Skrill Team

I believe both Skrill and Neteller sent the same e-mail to all clients. Also received it.

This does not sound good. They can use this terms arbitrarily.

If they were the good old skrill, they would have 5 times the profit they have from me right now because i would not jump to other alternatives.

This eWallet group (Skrill+Neteller) is much more worse than international banking cartel (classical banks, not internet ones). They are testing users tollerance!
Players can not allow this 5x higher fees. In 5-6 months it will be 15x higher and in a year could be 40x higher.
And, of course,  conditions getting worse and worse. We should undertake some steps! Proposals?

Stop using them and look for any possible alternatives?

So it seems now that if you have you re account closed at one ewallet they will close your account at the second also.
At least they gave us a 2 months heads up.

Skrill must have hard times. Bitcoin is useful for transactions and crypto will come with many solutions, like stable coins etc. Betcris applying 3,5 % fees for Skrill WDs also helps to reduce the number of Skrill transactions.

I just got this today. In my opinion this is massive. These are the same types of draconian terms and conditions books apply regularly.

What this says to me is "we can do what we want when we want when it suits us. If it looks like you're an easy target, you're done, and you will have no recourse".

I think this could be the most dangerous thing I've ever read on this site. It's worse than CRS, it's FAR worse than hiking up rates. You want to talk about Skrill throwing money away? Well they may have just taken a serious turn in that regard, because confiscating many users balances will make them a LOT of money.

Where do we stand here? Am I over-reacting? Who know what they will base illegality on.

Easier said than done X1000

What's amazing is that even enquiring about this seems dangerous. The same way you worry about criticising a sportsbook in live chat about something in case they might limit you, now we can't even discuss this without the possibility of a red flag. End times boys.

It is clear for me that they are laying fundations for mass scale funds confiscation.
Even small indication for multi-accounting and they just take the money, show you T&C and tell to GTFO.
This is criminal activity.

There is a little hope in crypto currencies but we have to wait.

They were closing accounts with no justification for years. They just put that in their Terms to avoid litigations.

Termination of account does not mean confiscation. No company in the lawful world can confiscate without court order. It just means we dont need you as a customer anymore because we are big now, we have real gamblers. This way they make their relationship with bookmakers better. They want their customers to take bonuses again in sportbooks.
It is a big bet they are making. And the odds are not in their favor.

Seriously? We see these confiscations every couple of weeks on these boards.

Who's the they? Books or ewallets?

As for the odds, they are changing but for different reasons. The sports betting industry has saturated. Sure, there will be opportunities in the US, but we're probably getting close to a decade since the end of the good times for the smart, risk averse gambler. Less and less customers are coming to the books from ewallets, and the vast majority that are are clearly smart bettors. This means the books are discriminating between deposit methods for SURE. This has been happening for years clearly (as you can tell from special offer exclusions) and now has been successfully implemented as the norm. The odds are not in their favour because less and less people are benefitting from their service, but most of all, the odds are NOT in our favour.

We can speak about "adapt or die" platitudes and the need for evolution in the practices we use, but at the end of the day, all things come to an end. There can be no evolution if industry is dying. The contraction of the industry is continuing day after day, I feel like two things are necessary from all people like us-focus on growing, "evolving", all the platitude talk we do here that's vague that basically means "work harder to find new ways to make money". The second thing is more important however. The second thing is recognise this thing could end tomorrow, without warning, with losses, and you'll just have to deal with it. We'll have to try not to lose our minds, whilst also asking ourselves how we can move on into other fields of interest and walks of life without being destroyed by the loss of potential that end of this industry may bring.

That is a great post, thank you for this.

I remember discussing the end of arbing back in 2004 in the old forum. We are still here. And even though arbing is almost dead, there are other forms of smart gambling that came to the surface and many people exploit them.
For example, live arbing is here. Of course it is going down the cliff like pre game arbing, but for some years it became a cash cow machine. Some will stay with it and will go till the last drop, some will move to the next thing whatever that is.
Value betting is the next big thing. I remember in the old forum discussing about the mathematics of value betting, and many of us had doubts. Now, 10-15 years later value betting is here and it pays. Like arbing, there is a discrimination of pre game and live value betting. This seems like having years to evolve.
Even though this is not a casino forum, let me tell you something about casinos. Before 2014 they were going down the cliff, but after the UK legislation and became a cash cow machine once again.

What I m saying here is that some types of smart gambling are dying, while some others are emerging. You have to be vigilant, to understand the trend and invest in that trend.

No question about it, there are barriers to entry in the smart gambling scene. 2019 is not 2004 when absolutely everyone could join and make some free cash with limited effort. Now, you have to dedicate time and energy.

As a side comment in regards to e-wallets, we all have to understand that smart gamblers, not even gamblers in general, are not their primary source of profit.
