William Hill Plc reported operating losses of £721 million, closing its full-year 2018 accounts.
This is a big damage.

Couldnt be happening to a nicer company lol
I feel for the staff who are losing their jobs, but Hills are a horrible company, the worst on the high street, even 20 years ago they were too!!

One may wonder how did they manage to screw up like this in such a business. Surely, they didn’t lose this money to arbers. It will never cease to amaze me what a bad management can do.arbusers wrote: William Hill Plc reported operating losses of £721 million, closing its full-year 2018 accounts.

Re: William Hill announces 900 stores closure
WilliamHill's business is predominantly UK-centric and land-based. This will change in the coming years with international diversity and a bigger digital gravity. Already there are several signs for this:
The 270 mn MrGreen acquisition expands WH vision in Scandinavia.
The 70 mn investment in the US, as WH wants to have the best starting position.
The closure of 900 stores in the UK as mentioned by Campeones.
In addition, even though the CEO remains in office, during 2018 there were new entries in the management showing that they are going for a more digital WilliamHill.
Obviously, they will not welcome arbers and sharp bettors. We have seen WH being very tough in many occasions during these last years, asking players to bring forward various documents, sending them somewhere in Gibraltar, etc.
My feeling is that they ll go for casino traffic where the easy money is. MrGreen acquisition shows that.

Going to get harder for shop-based UK businesses. So much of their income is from casino betting terminals, and there's a big crackdown by the government on max stakes there.

It is reported by Property Week, that William Hill has requested that its landlords reduce its rents by 50 per cent, effective immediately.
An open letter was sent to 2,000 landlords across the country at the beginning of March requesting these severe rent cuts.

William Hill stores are the next big drama in the gambling industry.
Recent reports show that only 700 stores are going to be closed. If we combine this with this
Many say these are the consequences of governments decision to reduce the maximum stake on FOBT gaming products to £2 from 1 April 2019.

we can easily say that at least 200 landlords agreed to reduce the rents by 50%.arbusers wrote: It is reported by Property Week, that William Hill has requested that its landlords reduce its rents by 50 per cent, effective immediately.

Regulations are becoming more and more local and against gambling. We do not know for sure where this will go. Maybe US being more gambling friendly will start a new stream of regulator position toward this industry. If Trump administration does not open it i doubt it will ever be open.
