Smarkets are launching a sportsbook named SBK. They think they will be able run it without banning people. Funniest thing I've read in a long time.
Smarkets don't have any traders and their in house market makers are well known for simply copying Betfair exchange prices with occasionally worse odds. Smarkets has been in business since 2008, over 10 years and it seems they haven't learnt a thing.
SBK runs off it's exchange prices so for football for example they may be able to get away with it on the match odds but they have no liquidity on any of the sub markets. No chance in the slightest they will be able to run a sharp Sportsbook.

Re: Deluded Jason Trost and Smarkets.
It will probably be like something Betdaq tried years ago with Betchronicle. Odds mirror exchange odds but 5% shaved off, and max bet is amount available at the exchange. Guaranteed to fail.
If they try to run a bona fide sportsbook without limiting people, guess what, that will fail too lol 99% of people who use sites other than Hills, Lads, Paddy, Sky are sharps, pros, arbers etc and thats all the client type they will get.

Deluded is the only word than springs to mind.
They can't run an exchange without stopping winning customers from trading. They apply different commission tiers to them. So how on earth do they think they can run a sharp sportsbook.

It's been out for a while, maybe beta stage, I dunno (I joined last August). All it does is take prices from the exchange, but with zero commission. Makes for good juice in most markets, often better than pinnacle.
You can't bet more than is on the exchange
EDIT: Actually, it looks like they have 3-4 times higher limits on SBK than the exchange now, that's new compared to when I last checked.

I suppose we can all have some fun arbing them until they decide they've had enough. I might wait until they go live out of beta testing and then hammer the daylights out of them.

Lol, yeah I guess its best to sign up as soon as it goes live, cause it may take them a month or 2 to throw in the towel.DPG wrote:

Really, not much worse odds? They might regret this..DPG wrote:
