Laying a horse without Betfair ?
If you wanted to lay a horse for 1000.00 at 6.0 but there wasn't the liquidity at the exchanges, can you lay it somehow by backing all the other runners at bookies, like a DC in football? And is it even worth thinking about, or would it get you limited quickly?

Betting on horses with fixed odds is a tough game. It's an ephemeral world,
similar to arbing as they put the same obstacles on us, and you'll have to look
for similar solutions. You must have access to all exchanges. If you do dutching
with fixed odds (in one or more bookies), or you eat the whole overround or you
will be limited quickly, and none is profitable... In the end you have the tote
odds... The hypodromes and of course Citibet

Re: Laying a horse without Betfair ?
I'd seen something somewhere about how old time gamblers used to have a way to lay a horse before the exchanges, but I've no idea how they did it. I'll content myself with what I can get from the exchanges.

Re: Laying a horse without Betfair ?
My advice is,
Don't bother with laying horses. Instead back the horse with the best value.
Actually, backing a horse means you're laying all the other horses in that race. You can get much better value and it's definetely easier to make profit over long haul. When you lay, you make consistent profits but few losses erase all your winnings. Back the horse and make profits slowly but steady. I developped/tried 9892975782987987982 horse lay systems in my life, that's why I'm so confident with my answer

Re: Laying a horse without Betfair ?
Try to found all available exchanges and of course Citibet, there is a lot of liquidity for horses. Also try not to use softs for horses,as its a red flag for limits. And have in mind that you should follow value, you may found better price when backing a horse.

Haha, just seen your edit, Yngwie. Been thinking about back vs lay, looking at my results I have made ok profit on laying horses but that could just be a trend. You gotta lay favs. But I'm only on my 3rd system - I'll find out the hard way I guess. update.3rd system bad yesterday. I'll take your advice and stick to backing.

Re: Laying a horse without Betfair ?
Hello, does anybody know why betfair has banned lay market on horseracing on all whitelabel sites, like orbit exchange? The lay option on all other sports like football remains.
Thank you in advance.

Back 1 horse and you will be able to lay other 3 horses in that race!!
Re: Laying a horse without Betfair ?
Actually, you can lay multiple horses in market. Let's say there's 4 horses in that race. Back 3 horses and it means you're laying the other horsejoskin wrote: If you wanted to lay a horse for 1000.00 at 6.0 but there wasn't the liquidity at the exchanges, can you lay it somehow by backing all the other runners at bookies, like a DC in football? But if they lose money they should have banned it from betfair also.. not only whitelabels ....gamblehappier wrote:Maybe because they lose moneyleosir wrote: Hello, does anybody know why betfair has banned lay market on horseracing on all whitelabel sites, like orbit exchange? The lay option on all other sports like football remains.

Re: Laying a horse without Betfair ?
exactly, that's the reason i'm asking because Betfair has still available lay options on horseracing, so in the supposed case that they lose money via lay option they would have taken off on their side too.
Maybe it has to do with the commissions that they charge on whitelabels?or something else...who knows...
