Hi everyone,
Has it ever happened to anyone using UK licenced operators to be asked for personal documents to verify their account?
My Mansionbet account got restricted as they sent to me the following:
As we are operating in a highly regulated environment, and in compliance with the requirements set forth by the Gambling Commission, we have an obligation to ensure that you are gaming with funds responsibly and within your means.
As such, we kindly ask that you provide documentation that displays the source of the funds that you are using for your gaming, some examples of which may be:
For example;
If you are playing using your salary, we can accept payslips or an end of year Tax Return.
If you have won money with another operator we may ask for a "Profit and Loss Statement" (Available from all online casinos)
If it is that you have received a windfall from a sale of a property, we may ask for a copy of the completion document.
To assist us in our review, we ask that please also complete the following questions and attach the relevant document, so that we can complete the review efficiently and reduce the amount of contact regarding documents:
1. Employment Status:
2. Job Title / Company:
3. Length of time in this job:
4. Estimated Yearly Income; including any bonuses / overtime before Tax:
5. Have you received any other income or windfalls that you have used to support your play?
I would like to assure you that this is a check that we, and all UK licensed gaming operators, must carry out on all players reaching a certain threshold, and all documents are managed within the strictest confidentiality, in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
Is it what they are asking not illegal and against the GDPR rules? All these documents are personal, why should betting companies ask for all these? Is it an official Gambling Commission requirement even if it is strictly against the GDPR rules?
What are your views on this matter?

Its not illegal sadly, but I would never supply such info and just ask for the account to be closed and funds returned. Too much over regulation in the UK these days.

As another arbusers member mentioned above, too much over regulation in the UK these days. Definitely this is an intrusion of privacy. Unfortunately, this seems to be the condition for every UK licensed operator, it's not only that specific betting company.

ArberPro, this isn't a profitable account so no winnings so far. I have more info on this issue, seems that all UK licensed gaming operators must carry out these checks on all players reaching a certain threshold, and the limit of this is £2000 based on the new Gambling Commission rules. This practically means that if someone has deposited £2000 or more in a certain period of time, then the betting companies have to verify that the funds come from legitimate sources.ArberPro wrote: How much did you deposit/win ?
