Punter Julius Ndlovu has finally been paid his £1,000 well-deserved winnings after a 17-month fight in courts against William Hill who refused to honor his bet.
Julius found himself in the odd position to see his cash withheld, claiming the 2,000-1 odds on a tennis bet, Roger Federer to win a set 6-3 against Tomas Berdych.
William Hill had refused to honor the bet because it said the wrong odds were ''a human error''. Instead, they offered him two free £50 bets as a ''goodwill gesture''.
Julius refused and instead took William Hill to the civil courts over his bet and prepared the case himself. The bookmaker appealed and each time he represented himself and fought against it.
The firm contested his claim but after three separate hearings he has finally been paid a cheque for £1,826 - made up of his £1,000 winnings, plus interest and the costs he ran up.
William Hill had at least two different barristers representing the company and it is estimated that more than £ 10,000 were spent to save £1,000.

Their lawyers are not that stupid as it seems. They made a business decision to discourage punters from asking for their money.arbusers wrote: William Hill had at least two different barristers representing the company and it is estimated that more than £ 10,000 were spent to save £1,000.
