My 2 cents:

If you need a kickstart bankrool boost, valuebetting is a way to go. I was rebelbetting/valuebetting user, switched to betburger later, both services provide good value for money. You will most probably (if variance doesn't kick you hard) get a quick boost until you dry out all your soft bookies.
Than you have to:
1. Buy accounts (I think we all know how this works (or doesn't) lately)
2. Learn how to win at sharps
Regarding number 2, sharps aren't what they used to be, just compare limits with 2  years ago.

Poker:
There is no quick money there. Extensive studying is a must, even to beat peanut stakes nowadays. And be prepared for a long period in the beginning where you won't make any significant money. But, after you get a grasp, beautiful world opens for you. Another great thing is, big sites do very good work against bots and AI assistance. Few years ago, it seemed online poker will be dead very soon, smart betting is much closer to death today.

Bottom line - valuebetting - high floor, but pretty low ceiling
Poker - low floor, maybe even bellow ground zero for some, but much higher ceiling

Yes pretty pointless article. Both have their pros and cons and the way they describe value betting is purely based on soft books so would be much more profitable to just take advantage of bookies misprices and get huge values there than to use regular methods. 
But after a while you have to adapt and learn to beat sharps whichs turns out to be not so easy task
One pro for poker is tho that if you have good local place to play then this could be quite a goldmine with no limits cant say the same for betting  as sooner or later you will get limited(maybe not if you have superb local but chances to find one are quite small)

Online poker, unless you particularly enjoy the game, stacking shelves at Tesco would be preferable and more profitable if you just got a £500 or even £2000 bankroll.
