Why Rebel Betting doesn't have Live?

Sun Oct 18, 2020 9:58 am

It's 2020, pregame arbing is almost dead and Rebel Betting still offering only pregame arbs? Seriously? Why you're not offering live arbs?

We've considered live arbing for a long time and still haven't written it off completely.

Perhaps when we move our arbing solution to the web as well, we can add live arbing (and live value betting!) on a select few bookmakers as a test, and see the interest.

The reasons why we haven't added it yet are many:
- We estimate that only a small number of our users would be interested in live arbing. So the large cost (in time and resources) to build and maintain a great live arbing service could not be justified from a business perspective. This could change in the future, however.
- Technical challenges. Let's just say building and maintaining a live odds gathering and comparison engine requires much more time and resources, probably by an order of magnitude.
- Value betting is more popular than arbitrage betting today.

I can say for sure that there is huge demand if you make a high quality scanner. For example no interruptions or errors in base bookies like pinnacle and bet365. And you can add live value betting too.

I hope you're right! But you both are professionals, with more experience and risk management skills than most. This is unfortunately is only a small percentage of our customer base.

But I like the idea of running a small test. What bookmakers would you have us start with other than Bet365?

We actually build a live odds monitor for Bet365 back in 2013 when they were still using their flash site. It worked great, updates were even faster than their own web page. But they've since changed technology.

You can start a technical only test with bookies which almost all have access to.
Pinnacle, bet365, bwin, williamhill, unibet, 888sport, 10bet, dafabet, bet-at-home, betsson,  betfair+betfairSportsbook.
Than you can start adding books according to requests and resources.
I think there is demand outside your customer base. But if you start with only this bookies and not all the ones you offer in prematch you risk to not attract customers because of lack of their bookies of interest. So it would be a technical only test and not a business case test. If you had done this 2 years ago you could have debuted with this bookies only. Now competition offers a great range of bookies so you should start with a lot of bookies. But if you are technically better in scanning than the competition than you have a winner business case.

1- That's not right. Majority of arbers switched to live arbing long time ago. Pregame arbing doesn't last long, bookmakers limit you very quickly.
2- Live value betting is more profitable then pregame value betting.

I hope you add live arbing in future, Thanks.
