I set up an account, didn't really use it except for a few mini transactions to a friend overseas, then rceived an email saying account is closed due to suspicion and to please send bank details to return the rest of the money. No reply now for two weeks. Phone number goes to a dead end. Is this company to be trusted? It's not a lot of money but I considered them reputable for some reason, quite strange behaviour on their end.

transferwise , monese , revolut , bunq etc...

Looks like something big has happened there, tonnes of recent negative reviews, food for thought.

Hmm. Looking at the reviews i would guess that organised crime has been using Monese to defraud HMRC and that Monese have now become aware and executed some sort of 'lockdown' 

I think you have just been caught in the crossfire.

(Edit : Or Monese IS organised crime and are taking the money and running - which would be awful for the poor sods waiting for their handouts)

It will surely be big news in the coming days if the latter, they are now not answering any calls through customer service

edit-typing them in on Twitter also brings up a lot of complaints
