Backtesting

Hello,

In many forums I keep seeing users who share their projects, strategies, systems, picks with others, whose performance can then be followed in the forum from day to day or week to week. Usually very motivated at the beginning, sometimes naive.

(Most of them not profitable in the end) But that's not the point.

I wonder, regardless of whether it is real money or paper trade, whether this or that strategy has proven to be profitable over the past periods / seasons.

Keyword: backtesting

I.

What tools are there on the market with which you can test your strategy retrospectively based on real events and the actual odds?

II.

Do you know of a tool that does this for both pregame odds and inplay odds?

III.

What are your personal experiences with backtesting? (Type of sport, type of bet, period, effect)

THX

Betfair offers historic odds for exactly that purpose -  back-testing. They offer both free and paid versions where paid version includes more detailed data. However, they only provide data, you will need coding skills to process that data yourself (or hire a programmer). Betfair offers both pre-match and and in-play historic odds.
