I think it's clear that Xanadu/Matchbook is targeting pros whereas Smarkets looks to attract "matched bettors"/bonus hunters.

I think the disastrous over/under market I got involved in at the weekend might have been bot money that froze the market. Either that or a trader messed up badly and manually froze everything.

What a load of complete and utter nonsense.

Smarkets are most definitely looking to attract professionals, they have said that is their main target market many times, but of course they are also looking to attract customers from all levels as well.

There are many "pros" on here that are arbing, and I expect the vast majority of them that in their wisdom were using Matchbook in any way before this will now be clearing off from Matchbook. That's a pretty dumb move in "targeting pros".

Hiking the commission by 50% for people who go on their site to take the price on offer isn't going to help them one bit in "targeting pros", in fact it will have a disastrously detrimental effect in attracting anybody at all of any level whatsoever to bet at their site.

You most definitely don't have a clue what you are talking about.

Does that look normal to anyone?
It does look utterly abnormal and I think your speculation is spot on

I most certainly know exactly what I'm talking about. And as you are not elaborating at all on the comment you've made, that very clearly shows that you don't have a proper answer to any of the points I've raised.

I do not wish to educate you from now on. You are absolutely clueless on many of the topics you comment on. Any newbies should most certainly take your advice with caution.

I most definitely do not need "educating" by you, and I am most certainly not "clueless", I know exactly what I'm talking about. I have made some extremely common sense points regarding Matchbook, which you say you don't agree with, but you won't elaborate and give a proper answer on any of the points that you say you disagree with, so if anybody is "clueless", then it is most definitely you.

Great, one more excuse to use Smarkets most of the time than Matchbook.I hade their awful site design vs the Smarkets minimal design.Smarker's one search bar and thats it! I want to bet on Torino,i press "tor..." and then automatic the match displays in a dropdown list in the middle of my screen! Much easier commition system, just a flat 2% if you win, instead of matchbook formula of "1*2^3 if a or 1+5/100 if b or 1-256 if c" and WTF!!!! Thanks Matchbook for making my decision a lot easier, god bless you!!! :)

It is a little strange - If you take the £23 - the odds go out to the next price and a few seconds later there is another £23 there - there is only real movement of odds in the 15-20 minutes before the race when I suppose anyone mad enough to trade at Matchbook jumps on
It's just even stronger confirmation that your initial speculation was right, isn't it? Or, someone's bot went crazy which happens :)...

I wonder if Mike will be back? - obviously someone invited them to comment because just turning up a day after we complain about the rise is even more of a coincidence than the liquidity on their markets :D
Maybe they have made a deal with Smarkets to send them more costumers to make Smarkets bigger ,to counter Betfair!!  ;D

You see it on every horse market every day - someone's bot needs an exorcist :D
Spot a really crazy one and it's printing money :D

I've got half of my bankroll split between two exchanges and not three now and haven't found myself running low and passing up arbs

Liquidity at Smarkets seems to have increased and I've had a very good last 2 days

So Mike never came back - probably decided that arbers are not the sort of people Matchbook wants to attract anymore
Never used Matchbook in any volume and haven't used them for years so there's nothing to miss as they weren't needed in the first place anyway.

That Matchbook guy made a post on the SBR forum as well trying to fan the flames but haven't heard from him since on there either. He probably realised that he couldn't defend the indefensible.

Matchbook can now be officially consigned to the scrapheap where they belong alongside Betdaq, which leaves Smarkets and the Betfair Exchange the last men standing to duke it out, and it's obvious who will come out on top in that fight.

I am so fucking amazed on how much you screw up and really good thing.... I'm not talking about matchbook they were bad from the beginning im talking in general about the incredibly bad managed shops. Well it seems if you want to do something right. Do it yourself...
Don't speak for something you have no clue.
