The vast majority of MB accounts is not a VIP account.
Do not judge from our members where almost everyone has 1-2 VIP accounts. The majority of the accounts are small accounts with limits varying from 1000 to 6000 euros. Therefore this change of fees charging is targeting these small accounts, and not the big VIP accounts.
Let be realistic now. Small accounts will send these 10-100 euros from one account to an other. It is rare to see this kind of transactions from a VIP account.

The change of ownership of MB means a lot of things, but i m not ready to analyze it now.

Do the withdrawals from bookmakers also count towards turnover at Skrill or only deposits?
Thank you.

Ok, I have the answer now:  "Send Money Transactions to Skrill Merchants that are not otherwise excluded "

It is still too much, having to pay 10€ for 1,000€ sent from a non-VIP account. Totally unacceptable, there is no need to protect them. But as I said, thank God we have NETELLER!
Disgusting greedy move by Skrill. As a long-term customer, I am disappointed a lot.
Not surprising given that last month the private equity firm CVC Capital Partner bought a 75% stake in it for €600m with the other 25% in the hands of those embattled Bahraini princes who were big buddies with that now deceased pedophile Michael Jackson.

Bahrain. A country with no air space holding 40 F16s.
Not a surprise for me that all money moving instruments are under US control.
Clever guys understand.

Is there any of you guys withdrawing from skrill to a local currency? If so, is there any way to avoid skrill's huge fee for exchange rates?

You can tell them to always send the money to your bank in the currency you have in your skrill account. (You might have to be a VIP to have this option though)
Your bank will then make the currency exchange. For me this was a better option but I think it all depends on what bank you use.

why you don't open a bank account in the currency you are using at MB/bookies ? So ,you avoid exchange rates.

@ bri999

We are doing very well from Moneybookers indeed, but they are doing even better from our action. In fact, we could do our job even without them (with more difficulties for sure), but they wouldn't exist without us (by "us" I mean arbing and pro players action).

So, what do they do? They throw a part of the pie every now and then in the form of a cashback to keep us happy. At the same time, let's not forget that they provide illegaly all our info to bookmakers whenever they are asked.  And now they up their charges from 0,50 to up to 10 euros! It is not justifiable.

Well, I don't exaclty agree, cause their cashbacks are not steady all year round, while they are still winning from me all year round. I remind you that they get 2,8% from my transactions and I only get 1% (or 1,5% in the last one) during some months of the year. So, even during cashbacks, they cash in heavily.

Also, the conditions for remaining VIP are very strict, so it won't be unusual to have a 10 euro charge for a 1000 euro transaction (outrageous!).

Of course you can call me and anyone else "negative", but I like to claim what I deserve to get and I feel I deserve better from MB. Surely it's their right to decide what's best for their business, but it is also my right to claim a better situation for me and if I'm not satisfied with them, to shift my activity to a better competitor.

really, who even comes close? the banks will charge similar amounts to mb for deposits to bookmakers and you get zero back from them, yes it is very easy to be negative, you're proving that, I wish you good luck in finding a "better competitor"
Neteller is improving a lot, so they might be considered as better in the near future.

Let me also state that: When MB started to give 1% cashback for 1 or 1,5 month, people found that fantastic, cause it was better than nothing. MB never thought about increasing the cashback percentage or the duration. After Neteller got into action again (about a year ago) and claimed some big pro/arb players from MB by offering them better deals, MB started increasing the duration of the cashbacks and now even offered a great 1,5% cashback!

What's my point? If everyone was so "happy" as you are, MB would never increase the cashback from 1% to 1,5%, nor keep it active for 2,5 months. So, instead of accusing the "negative" ones, you should thank them for having the opportunity to enjoy better services from MB.

The new charges have just (?) been implemented, and I tried to make earlier a transaction from a vip account that lost vip status. Charge: 10 euros. Changes completely the calculation.

Mate, I can't change your mind as we see things from a different point of view. I see this as claiming what I deserve and you see it as "complaining" and "moaning". We are at different places.

The more you transact, the more points you earn. Then you can exchange them for cash.

This topic is getting very interesting, with the contribution of course of our well informed and experienced members.
Let me say a couple of words also.
We ve seen a change of ownership in MB recently. This is not good for us for a number of reasons. I am not going to mention all these reasons now, but i will bring to your attention one simple fact. Fees skyrocketed just after the change of ownership.
Now lets talk about reality. MB's position in the market is dominant. I believe that this is one of the reasons why the Americans bought it. They ve seen an opportunity here. They use tactics of dominantion in a number of other ventures and they know very well how to take advantage of a dominant position. They ve done these things several times in many fields.
MB guys are thinking with a banker's mind. This will cost them, because they dont see the gambling/arbing/trading factor. We see this in many situations, especialy when they see bookmakers as their clients and players as meat. (You know what i mean)
MB is on the roof right now, and there is no extra floor.
On the other hand, NT is in the basement and walks for the elevator. The only way is up for them. Some very well known managers are in their team right now and i must say that they are very active, very professional and very experienced. I m sure Sportoboy knows what i m talking about. These people will not just stay and observe from far away, millions running to MB.
Already, some taylor made offers and deals are available for some high rollers.
Since my position in the market is also dominant, i can observe the cash flow of both companies. Both of them are increasing the cash into their system. Both of them are happy, and they can present some good charts and figures to the shareholders. My feeling is that NT has a better presentations those last months.

I keep on being confused on transactions at skrill..

Sending money doesn't equal deposting at a bookmaker right?
