Particularities of 2022-23 season

Mon Aug 08, 2022 7:20 am

Tradition says that every gambling season starts with the Premier League kick off. There you have it.
But this season has some particularities that we never encounter in the past. At least, it is me saying that I don't remember a season like this since I started my journey in the smart betting world back in 2003 (if i remember correctly).

The World Cup will take place from November 21st to December 18th this year. Did you ever imagine a World Cup while Christmas shopping? All major leagues will pause in the beginning of November to allow national teams to prepare for the big event. That includes champions league and the other European tournaments as well. Subsequently, the season will be extended deep into the summer 2023. For example, the Champions league final will take place 2 weeks later than normal, in June 10th 2023.

All World Cups have limited smart betting action after the group stages and the round of 16. That means December the 7th would be the date that many of us should take a rest until the end of the December. This excludes the NBA guys. And speaking of NBA, we have a very important event in September called Eurobasket 2022. All major stars will be there. It is not only a betting event, but a great show as well. I suspect September and October will be the best months of 2022 in smart betting terms.

Good luck to all.

Those are good thoughts for those who strive for a healthy work-life balance. Unless you enjoy being at the lake, there's no reason to go fishing, when there are no fish.

As an attempt to optimize my work-life with sports betting, during the last year I have gone fishing during these approximate times in a regular week (i do prematch):
Saturdays 11:00-14:00
A couple of weekdays 16:00-18:00
(all times are CET)

But I have recently been wondering if I should evaluate this more thoroughly. For instance running a script each Monday that generates a sort of heat map depicting the number of matches in major sports at different hours for the coming week. That way, I won't be wasting time going to the lake when there are no fish.

Does anyone know if something like this already exists?

How did it start for you guys?
It is slow for me so far, using BB and BOV at the same time.

I'm using BB and BOV too and I can confirm that it's hard to keep past gains level.
Despite personally I'm reaching it, my effort is high. By one side this is bad, by the other side I'm happy
to be able not to surrender.

Fully agree to this. I think the next season could be one of the most complex as far as football is concerned to make good bets.

In Italy most trainers said this would be the first time that Serie A will be similar to Argentian League which has two tournments (they have Apertura and Clausura) and betting wise the efffects of this are difficult to predict as there is no previous history.

If we want to think about a comparison of World Cup in the middle of the season I think some similarities might be found looking at Africa Cup that takes place during winter. All the teams with lots of African players have usually challenges after the Cup as players are tired.

So after the World Cup this year teams with less national players might give surprises in terms of results.

There is also the climate change to consider as in Quatar will be hot while in Europe will be winter.

So it s possible this year after the World Cup (which is an event where historically I rarely made profits) I might focus more on tennis games rather than football. I hope as well to be able to limit my activity during the World Cup as learning from the past.

My Saturdays are disrupted a lot after they moved many EPL matches at night. Before that I knew I could work like a dog from early morning (with Asia) until 1700 (with the UK) and I knew I could take a siesta at 1700 just to gain strength and return back to my screens. Especially the hours 15-17 were a hell and I was working with full capacity.
Now it is milder during the day and I have to spend more hours just to have the same number of arbs, but with smaller profits.
As for weekdays it all comes down to European championships. I work like crazy in Autumn-Winter, and I m more relaxed in Spring-Summer.

I noticed that also. I think most games will be at the usual time (15.00 UK) later in the season.

Have a look at the EPL workload. They stop just 7 days before the World Cup. Seems to me that October and November will be the toughest arbing and value betting months ever.
