Longtime Austria-based bettor with Pinnacle here. First post on this forum, you will understand why I'm posting in a minute.
I just got the following email today:
"We regret to inform you that on September 5, 2021 we will be closing all Pinnacle accounts that are based in Austria, including your account. We will therefore be blocking your access to all of Pinnacle’s features and services as of August 23, 2021. Please be advised this is due to regulation changes in the location of your account."
Anyone has some information about that? Why the sudden closure of all Austrian accounts? It's really too bad as this was the perfect country (from a legal and tax perspective) for a professional bettor. I hear that they want to change the law in Austria and gain more control over the licenses, etc..., but I am still shocked by Pinnacle's sudden decision. Any other options? Is Austria now finished as a betting-friendly country?

Re: Pinnacle closing in Austria
Surprised that no one is replying (I thought there were other Austria-based bettors here based on some posts in the forum).
Looking at the info on this forum, I suppose that AsianConnect could be a solution for me. Is that correct? Any help or advice is appreciated (yes, I was lucky enough to be able to bet directly with Pinnacle for years, so I never had to come up with complex solutions to be able to bet there and have no experience with brokers such as AsianConnect, although I saw that there is a lot of info here - I'm looking at it right now...).

Re: Pinnacle closing in Austria
This is a typical behaviour from a bookmaker that we have seen several times in the past. They wait until their last day in order to inform players.
I have no idea about the new Austrian regulations to tell you the true, I have never heard before there are changes on the horizon.
Yes, agents would be a solution for you, but also you should check if that is OK with the countries you live, travel or get taxed from.

Re: Pinnacle closing in Austria
Thanks for the replies and for the information! I'm already glad I registered here (I was a lurker previously).
@Pete1801: If you don't mind, which agent are you using? I'm thinking of using AsianConnect as it is the only one that offers an API (based on Arbusers' reviews of the agents, which I already read). All my Pinnacle betting is (was ) done via API and I would prefer to keep it that way (my betting strategy would probably not work as well otherwise, anyway).
@Arbusers: There is very little info about the new regulations yet and no official announcement (as far I as know), I even checked the official law yesterday and there are no new changes since last year. But there are heavy rumors of more regulation (supposedly to combat addictive gambling) and also of changes to the regulatory structure (they want to appoint a new independent commission to oversee all betting and gambling on January 1st, 2022 - right now this is still under the control of the Ministry of Finances here in Austria).
However, I'm still not sure exactly what prompted Pinnacle to exit the market. When I wrote to them to get more info, they only repeated that "all Pinnacle accounts based in Austria will be closed on September 5, 2021 as we will no longer be able to support Austria customers due to regulation changes."

Re: Pinnacle closing in Austria
Hello Meise,
i am using bet-football and i am quite satisfied with them.
They offer PS3838 accounts and i think also with API (i do not use them, so i am not sure)
only disadvantage is, that ps3838 offer only 50% limits from pinnacle.
