The attached screen shot of the Betfair screen shows there is 232.00 waiting to be matched to back the draw at 3.75.
Doesn't that mean there is 232.00 waiting to take my offer of a lay price of 3.75 and that my offer should be instantly matched ? It doesn't seem to work like that in real life, but can someone explain how it does work ? Thanks.

Re: reading the betfair screen
A back bet would be matched if you choose 3.85 (or less)
A lay bet would be matched if you choose 3.9 (or more).
Your lay bet for 3.6 will not be matched.

Re: reading the betfair screen
Thank you for your reply. What I don't understand is that 232.00 shows as available to back the draw at 3.75.
Doesn't that mean that if I was to place a lay bet of 100.00 at 3.75 I would just be matching some of that back bet ?
Or, put another way, why doesn't the 232.00 available in the back column at 3.75 also appear as 232.00 waiting to be matched at 3.75 in the lay column ?
I get the feeling that this shows just how little I understand of how this works, but, alas, that is my question.

Re: reading the betfair screen
WYSIWYG.
The 232 is on the back side. It is available to back the draw at 3.75, not to lay.
If you place a Back bet that is not matched, it will be shown on the lay side.
If you place a Lay bet that is not matched, it will be shown on the back side.
