Setting up a Virtual Machine - avoid detection

Fri Oct 05, 2012 4:25 pm

This is actually a follow up on the article of "betting safe" and staying off the radar of guys, who limit our accounts:

This time it is practical one - what to do and how to do it:

A question: ok is possible to have VM. But if I make the bookie net connection with mobile broadband dongle (not landline internet), the bookie he can see the MAC number of dongle? (SMAC it not work to change the mac number of a dongle). If he can see the Mac number, then this give some identifier to my machine I use for the bets.

Also: can the bookie he see the Mac number, if I just browse his website (as new person to website, with no 'registring')? Or is it, just if I make the registration, that bookie he look for IP/machine detail more closely, so find the Mac number.

It all make a difference to what I does.

MAC is hardware identification number (it is used for communication between 2 hardware devices local-hardwere level) and has nothing to do with WEB. IP is your identification to remote servers via WEB. Even Mobile Internet connection will give you an IP.

(...someone think the IP is same as the MAC number? Strange! ...everyone know what they are)

Regarding my MAC number question and what happen to this: Ah, I remembers now. (Whirlpool address has reminder me.) The number it may go out as part of informations sent to the ISP (when making connection to net), but only in some more unusual case would it then be sent on/visible to a website that is visited after (eg a bookie website).

If you have the mobile broadband dongle (like me), of course then the MAC number sent out it is that of the dongle (NOt one on hardware of machine), but as it unlikely to go beyond the ISP, this it not significant (at least for me).

How you know that the number is MAC address of your dongle? It should be your IP not your dongle MAC address. Maybe you have a static IP from your mobile internet provider.

Example of IP 216.27.61.137
Example of MAC 01-23-45-67-89-AB-CD-EF (not just numbers also letters)

Why you think I may (possibly) confuse the IP number and MAC number!! As I have said, is strange if anyone could make such a confusion!

I have talked about the MAC number. As mentioned, you has an incorrect idea. You say that the MAC number that go out (as part of informations sent out in internet messages) is from the machine, that it is the MAC number that is on the computer. But this is wrong: if you have mobile broadband 'dongle' (you obviously do not have this), it is the MAC number of the dongle.

This have implication. You is able to change the MAC number that go out from the machine (if you want), by using SMAC (downloadable programme). But SMAC does not work if you is using 'dongle' to connect to the internet - because dongle have its own MAC number and this cannot be changed by SMAC. (I have SMAC, bythe way)

As the Whirlpool article have reminder me, howevers, the MAC number that can be sent out during internet communication, it do not matter much, since when your communication go beyond the ISP, the original MAC number it cannot be seen any mores, by the website you are making connection to. (I believes what happen is, many time, that the ISP substitute your own MAC number with another MAC number.) Only in rare case, can original MAC number of betting persons, be detected at website you is visiting. (See Whirlpool article which has this informations...)

Sorry aceto, I just wanted to ask if you have tested somehow what number do you share with web. I understand that PC MAC cant be shared, and i understand that you re writing about your mobile dongle.

So far as I know your dongle MAC can go only to your ISP in first place, there it is changed and communicating forward is another MAC (from your ISP).

So far as I could read in internet, even Iesnare doesn't see any MAC number, but just makes a fingerprint of your system (collects all available information, about software installed, browser version, OS, addons...) This information go to a Iesnare database. And bookies that are Iesnare clients have access to that database. There aren't personal information, but just machine(software and hardware information). So If I try to say it simple way. It's not YOU in person that get limit, but its your computer that is limited when accessing a new bookie, who already knows the computer cos it was blacklisted before by iesnare.

And when you go back with same computer (same fingerprint) and try to open fresh ID. Bookie will know, that you re using same computer but different personal details. This is enough for them to limit you or close your account. Also before you even place a bet.

About how you share the dongle MAC (I am not sure here) but i could not find any information about it.

Yes I know...that is what I have said (in both post).

Iesnare: so you too knows about iesnare.... (Except: I have on a trusted source read that iesnare can get the MAC number, by an 'unusual route' - also, apart from these details you have given, that it can get 'key personal identifiers' about your Windows... if you has the casino programme on your PC that enable iesnare cookie to work proper. But let us not talk of iesnare as I have read somewhere that Admin, he not want some longer discussion on such thing...so we stop an, atleast, is only short mention.)

Anyway no problem. regards, aceto
