Something strange in Betfair exchange markets

Thu Sep 05, 2024 10:36 am

Hello people, i ask your opinion about something strange i've been witnessing on Betfair (italian site).

In the IN-PLAY markets with low liquidity, as soon as a stake appears in good odds, it's immediately taken after 1 second, while i need to wait the usual few seconds of inplay delay.
What do you think about it? Is there some privileged account with reduced delay? Maybe the market-making bots do it, so Betfair is trading its own markets against its customers?
This is anyway something not very "Fair" from Betfair, they already take a lot of commissions and they should let us customers trade freely without taking an "Unfair" advantage.
Does this happen on the main .com site too?

I believe there has been in-house trading (via bots) in the past at least against non-UK clients. I don't know exactly what the situation is nowadays, but it makes perfect sense what the modern case is probably today...

People like Peter Jackson are certainly in the minority…

I wrote some things here in this post:

Yes, it makes perfect sense, cause i dont think an external user would be able to bypass the delay system of the in-play markets.

I'm tempted to report this issue to Betfair... from one side it could be a dishonest employeee taking advantage of his privileged position, but from the other side could be something Betfair is perfectly aware of, and does on porpose to make more money from its own markets.
Or it could be a 3rd party who has an agreement with betfair to manage their low liquidity markets?
