The World Cup 2022 chit chat

Thu Nov 17, 2022 7:26 pm

The first World Cup that I remember is the 1982 in Spain. Maradona, Paolo Rossi, Platini, Rumenigge, you name it. I have seen a lot, and I m always happy for every World Cup. I wonder how the heck these 4 years passed since the last one. That final between France and Croatia feels like it was yesterday. I guess I m still a boy in some aspects.

Only this time, this is the first World Cup that Ι really don't care much about. First of all, I can't imagine Christmas spirit and football (except boxing days). Secondly, I m not OK seeing a World Cup being held in a country where values are different. Finally, it was that Qatar/Equadar scandal with fixed games already.

So here is the thread for the World Cup 2022 chit chat.

Yeah, Qatar is a very disappointing location for the World Cup…

On a different subject - how are you guys taking advantage of the situation?

I found it very interesting to see the difference of odds between pinnacle and betfair for outright winner - Brazil is 4.8 at Betfair, 4.5 at Pinnacle, with tens of thousands of dollars available to bet (almost 100K at pinny).

What do you think about the fake fans?
I guess this is not a World Cup for women. Is Gianni Infantino feeling any woman, among other feels he has?

@ Arbusers,

My comment to all your posts in that thread so far:

Maintaining a child's admiration for the game and its characters is very important. On the one hand, this gives a human face to the business in adulthood, and on the other hand, it preserves the passion for details necessary for a successful business.

The eternal problem of ethics is in every aspect of our lives, partly in business. Some ancient philosophies have shown us the Path of Humanity, which has not been taken even in the 21st century.
I think Qatar 2022 is a consequence, even Russia 2018 is a consequence of other things. Perhaps Blatter, Grondona, Platini, Havelange, Phua, Tan, and many others are not at the heart of things. Their role is to be visible. Somewhere in Vegas and Asia, a lot of unseen things are happening.

Is it possible that the Qatar/Ecuador case is a distraction from other things ordered by Vegas/Asia?

@ Ex-hft,

Due to some personal perceptions here, in the first few matches of the WC2022 tournament, I will skip some solid pre-game positions and mainly process live data and the things that happen behind the curtain. Common triggers will be avoided for two or three days.

I don't know if there is any preparation for this, but there have been strange matches in the World Cups like East Germany vs West Germany 1:0 in 1974, Argentina vs Peru 6:0 in 1978, West Germany vs Austria 1:0 in 1982 and so on. I know the case from 1983 when Spain needed a margin of at least 11 goals and beat Malta 12:1 (qualifying for EURO 1984).
I really don't know what will happen, but I know for sure, that fish always are caught. My risk management was emergency changed after the Qatar/Ecuador case leak.

We're all observing tournaments one after another. Slowly, year by year, the global picture is constantly changing.

I was wondering who will be the new talented and capable player after the retirement of Maradona, Dunga, Belodedici, Duckadam, Zidane, Shilton, Ronaldo 1... very soon Messi, Ronaldo 2, Modrić and much later in time Haaland... Who will support the legacy of coaches like Leo Beenhakker, Cruyff, Rehhagel, Møller-Nielsen, Sepp Piontek, Bora Milutinović... and many more game-changers.

Observing the global change and the tendencies in the game aspects are extremely helpful for the global analysis of our business, aren't they?

In my view both Messi and Ronaldo are in their dusk. it is Earling holding the crown and he has a long horizon. On the other hand, he is not supported by a strong National team and this will lower his perspectives.

Do you think Benzema last minute withdrawal will impact odds?

Remember I'm running a contest (I posted here: the-world-cup-contest-tips-t8858/). Last two hours to subscribe if you don't wanna miss the first match.

In 2014 an Arbuser's member got the third place and in 2018 the second. It's time for the first place now!
