Romanian bookmakers

Sat Jan 07, 2023 4:41 pm

During these tumultuous times, we are witnessing the rise of the Romanian bookmakers as never before. The quantity of online and offline bookmakers is increasing rapidly gaining sky-high traction and more and more people are forced to using online bookmakers due to the rising restrictions.

Bookmakers are using now more than ever PR moves such as contracting local stars, vloggers, sport analysts, and sport stars in order to increment their visibility. By mere observation we can assess that there are bookmakers piled up one upon another on the main boulevards of cities as well as scattered around the
rural areas.

Virtually all of the online Romanian Bookmakers offer sign-up bonuses that are very interesting for Matched Betting, I will not write about them specifically here because they are subject to change, but the trend is that the majority offer 100% of approximately 70 Euros as a welcome bonus, which can be easily be monetised.

Smart Betting

Theoretically smart betting is not allowed but in practice of course it is. There are some bookmakers which specifically state the interdictions against arbing in their T&C. It is also rumoured that there is a shared data-base between bookmakers which they check for suspicious arbing accounts.

As an immediate repercussion of bookmakers spotting an arbing situation, they will limit the account to low sums, the second step of course is that they will probably ban the account for further use.

Taxation and Legal Matters

All online operators must use KYC systems in order to verify the identity of their customers. During this process the bookmakers will ask you for ID, address proof (phone bill, electricity bill, etc.) or for a detailed bank statement (where the address coincides with the one on your ID), there can also be situations where users will have to upload a photo of their debit/credit card.

As for taxation, for offline bets there will be a 5% tax for the actual bet and if the user wins a bet they will have to pay:
1% of the value for sums under 13.678 Euro (approximately);
16% of the value for sums between 13.678 - 91.188 + 136 Euros;
25% of the value for sums over 91.188 + 12.538 Euros;

These taxes will be automatically deducted at the bookmaker.

As for online betting, there is a tax called “vice tax” which is 2% of the actual deposit. There are some bookmakers which bare this tax themselves but usually the client will have to pay for this.
The same taxation scheme as for the offline bets is applied, only that it is based on the withdrawal rather than for winning bets.

Conclusion

All in all, the Romanian betting scene is clearly on the rise, it is in complete legality with strict rules applied from government authorities upon Bookmakers that favour and help increase its usage. Of course due to “covid” more and more people have migrated to online betting rather than offline, which in turn provokes the watchful eye of authorities even more, forcing Bookies to maintain a legal yet profitable market that can sustain the massive impact of customers pouring in on a daily basis.

What do you mean with 5% tax for the actual bet?

GoBet is not anymore. Was some Superbet's francise, and they closed more than two years ago.

The Romanian market is one that worths taking a shot. The regulation replaced the pervious Eldorado but didn't kill it. It helps a lot that Romania is flourishing as an economy.

Anyone with experience in romanian bookies can give us a feedback?
Is a good country to make surebets, the bookies tolerate this, they are limiting fast, are they blocking?
Yes it is good. Surely not that good like 10 years ago but you can still make money in this blessed country.

@campeones, your sources are wrong. To take example of Betano, after one month of using it, I am limited at 1 euro maximum stake, no matter how big or small the odds are.
I was betting only on major leagues of Footbal (Premier League, La Liga, Ligue 1, Bundesliga) and on NBA matches.
Superbet, another bookie from Romania: My limit is 250 RON (~50 Euros), but is depending by odds. If odds are bigger than 3.50 - 4.00, those 250 RON can be 100 RON allowed.
E-fortuna: no bets allowed at all
Mozzartbet: limits betwen 1 Euro and maximum 10 - 12 Euro.

In this case I have no sources. I have a personal opinion.
Maybe you are doing something wrong with Betano. As for the rest, a 10-12 euro max bet would be great if you know what I mean.

How is Betano lately in Romania?
I m running some tests to compare Betano with their franchises in Portugal, Germany and Greece. Maybe they have some differences worth taking advantage of.
Thank you

Not sure what you are doing in the Romanian market. I understand from your username that you are not Romanian, but someone willing to expand in Romania should have a very detailed look at:
efortuna
Stanleybet
efBet
MozzaerBet

I read some reviews about efbet in this forum that are not good, but it all depends on how you will use it. A bad bookmaker for A is a great bookmaker for B and vice versa.

Thank you very much Campeones. I have huge respect for you as the best poster in the forum and I admire your attitude and help to fellow bettors. Already working on your list.

Do you Campeones realise that you are destroying people's business with these posts?
Do you realise that a bookmaker could easily be alerted by your posts?
