Re: Paddypower and Betfair merger
Regardless of how valuable one bookie may be, the fact that the industry appears like it is becoming more and more monopolised by a small few is worrying.

Re: Paddypower and Betfair merger
I dont really like paddypower but definitely bad news, coral and ladbrokes are too bookies I use a lot. I dont think betfair or paddypower will change too much too quick, im hoping paddypower turns into a sharp, if not limits will be quicker

Re: Paddypower and Betfair merger
To me all of these mergers look like a sign that the european market is changing its model. All of these companies make their money marketing to casual punters and exploiting problem gamblers, it's gotten to the point that anyone beyond that is actually quite capable of pricing up a market or extracting value like many of us do when the situation arises. The minority of punters that over the years siphoned off some of these companies profits has grown bigger, especially as technology has developed for us. As a whole this could be a shift towards the Asian model, which would be dreadful if true.

Re: Paddypower and Betfair merger
I'm blowing hot air. In no way am I someone with expertise but when these big deals are going down I think it's always a good idea to speculate and from there gather a more informed opinion. I find a negative outlook in most cases so it'd be interesting to hear a different opinion on the matter.TjTaker wrote: Are you saying that we are about to witness the extinction of soft books?
