Bookmakers find it tough to beat Australia. However I am not sure if Peta Murphy MP alone is enough to implement justice and a fair game for all, including winners. We are watching closely.
Let's hope the country becomes a paradigm for others, and especially for the UK where it seems to me that 1-2 bookmakers (yes, you know who) hijacked the state.

As a side note, I see one licensed Australian bookmaker going rogue, bullying clients to a degree never seen before. Days are numbered.

I spoke to a lawyer here in Spain about this last month. Seems like state of play is that lots of court cases ongoing. Some win, some lose. The ones that win see betting limits put back to normal. The bookies then respond by closing the accounts (they are still allowed to do this) but they have to wait a period of time (I think it's around five days) before they do this, so the bettor gets a free hit for a week or so.

In an earlier message someone suggested that you can open an account and have a free hit for a couple of days before they can limit you. Does anyone know if this is true? I'd never heard of this before. Maybe they were talking about the free hit I mention above.

This is already a waste of time and a no sense.
Years ago you paid around 600/700 euros for a 90% percent of winning cases now you pay around 1000/1100 for a 70%, i think by just saying this everything should be clear.
Bookies found a lot of ways to fight against lawyers in the court and they use them like there is no tomorrow, and if you have the luck to win after some days or weeks they will close again your account because some new "shit" they added to their rules and you have to wait again around 2 years and probably pay more money to enter in a new case and repeat the process over and over again so..
And this for not saying that if you have the "disgrace" to lost the case you lost all the money and your account stay closed.. as i said, a waste of time and a bad joke nowadays.

The most famous lawyer's buffet that handles this cases in Spain now saying they won 3 cases and lost 3... even worse than what i said.
Now they close your winning account alleging you have gambing problems and protected by the new laws, what a joke.
