Regarding hidden devices - they’ve started appearing in chess, causing quite a scandal: cbsnews.com/amp/news/magnus-carlsen-quit-against-hans-niemann-over-chess-cheating-scandal-i-believe-that-niemann-has-cheated-more/#app

I just had a mental image of someone squeezing their anal sphincter to increase stake size in increments of 100.
Followed by another one of the front row of spectators at a basketball game all twitching and fidgeting in their seats as they place in-play bets.

Re: What is courtsiding?
Have you ever tried courtsiding on basketball matches these days are not anymore like 10 years ago. Try to catch a point if you can. You are always late 2 - 5 seconds on some bookmakers.

Re: What is courtsiding?
Ok, so here is some inside about tennis courtsiding:
1) you really need to think outside the box for the signal device, mobile phones with volume buttons up/down wont work. Basically any device you need to keep with your hand in pocket won't work. You will be thrown out in few games most of the times
2) even if you manage to get device for signals to work, there is a lot more work to be done on the server/managing side. Most times you are looking at around 500-600ms (device + mobile data ping + server latency) for a bet to be placed (+BF delay) and in most tournaments that will not be enough to be the fastest one. It can be up to some other ones using WiFi from the venue or other exclusive access (maybe decreased bet placement time? who knows. It would be enough for someone to have .5 second less placement time not to be too obvious).
3) Hawkeye and similar system employees for sure exploit live trading/betting, and there is little to no chance of beating them.
4) Somehow WTA tournaments are easier to get by courtsiding than ATP. Most ATP tournaments have photographers who just take photos of every suspicious person then store/share those photos or even run through databases. At the same time there is still security in WTA but way easier to get by. That's why most WTA250 and other tournaments have way more courtsiders during games.
5) If you get caught, you are treated like sh1t most of the times, even pushed into rooms, taken photographs of you, your belongings, even ID cards etc. Not sure this is even legal, specifically in Europe. Taking a photo of your ID and sharing it with other spotters through WhatsApp and other platforms is a serious GDPR violation. The same could be said about photographs during the game.
Anyway, courtsiding will not die anytime soon. The best way for everyone would be really fast <1s delay streams from sporting events to level the playing field. It's 2023 and we still use miniature live video from bookies with 15s delays.
