I made £1.4 million in 10 years of arbing but quit almost 2 years ago due to a combination of no i.d's and the soure of income BS which made a massive difference to UK arbing, maybe I could have carried on but i was spoiled by the yearly 6 figure earnings and didn't want to work for much less profits of the good days, which I knew would have been the inevitable outcome....... I told myself all good things come to an end and gave myself a pat on the back for 10 years of good work but also 10 unhealthy years with soooo many hours staring at my screens hunting for arbs.

2 years on I miss it like crazy and very bored but I'd say the reasons I quit (UK) are probably even more so today than 2 years ago and sadly a comeback is not on but at the same time i am sure there are UK arbers still making a good living.

what does an old arber do???

If you made £1.4 million between 2011 and 2021, I can imagine how much you could make between 2001 and 2011.

Start an online business since most of the skills needed you already have from arbing.

i started arbing (full time) 2010/2011 after experimenting in the months beforehand around about the same time you left arbforum.co.uk and started arbusers so between 2001 and 2011 I made close to zero, late to the party but not too late

apparently they go on forums saying how much they won
little bit jealous I think treblepop but no big deal and no I never won anything, I earned it.

now with 6% savings interest in UK, it's hard to spend the interest on my arbing earnings, no need for me to arb any more and I quit because I had enough to never work again but that's not to say that sometimes I miss it

maybe one day you'll be in the same situation treblepop and you'll understand......then again maybe not ;)

jajaja well where do we start............... if your life is going on internet to boast of your profits then at least it should be a good number.... 1.4 million in 10 years? during the Golden Era? this type of embarrassment should be kept private.....

and retiring with 1.4 million?....well either you are 64 years old or you do absolutely nothing with your life.........

Have to agree £1.4 million is nothing. You should have made £14 million.

Come on guys, don't be mean. When you start like with 1k EUR, you have no information, no betburger, you have to live off those earnings, so it really wasn't quite that easy even in the golden era. But starting today with 1k euros seems impossible to me, I don't understand at all how these new guys do it.

I was not boasting, I merely stated I had retired and gave reasons why, you treblepop replied with sarcasm because i had mentioned my career earnings, you treblepop obviously have your reasons for being annoyed at the fact I mentioned my earnings

in my career I came across guys who earned multiples of what I earn and good for them and i helped these guys to improve their earnings, guys who will now be multi millionaires of course they helped me too.

I don't really know if £1.4 million is a good amount or not? but it was enough for me and even in my 10 year career I had a tremendous amount of time off and travelling/hoilidays

and yes I am not too far off 64 years old

as for the comments from DPG and treblepop, I found in my career that the big guys didn't waste too much time writing on here but good for you two that you are making far in excess of my profits but very easy to sit by your keyboard and make rude remarks as I already said i was only responding to the OP's post on retirement as his situation was not too disimilar to mine

I will not comment on the poisonous statements here.
But, a performance of £1.4 million within 10 years (these are GBP, not EUR or USD), puts Thomas Wilson in the top 5% of all smart bettors, and this is a very rough and general estimation that I m sure it is very close to reality. It is of the same kind like my estimation that only 1.5% of bettors are long term winners, If you get what I mean.
5% of the creme 1.5% puts him at 0.075% of all gamblers. Statistically only 1 out of 1333 bettors is smarter than him, and that means he is entitled to be the boss of himself, work as an executive in a middle range firm if he choses so, or live by earning dividends, interests or rents, the holly grail of so many investors.
Of course there are better and smarter guys than him. Most of them choose silence, or create a persona for those who are persistently asking.
Instead of being spiteful, learn to read and analyse what other people say.

I am sure that there will be much less of those who have earned the same or more by betting. It depends on how you define smart bettor. A lot of guys try it, read the forum, pay betburger, they do well for a few months and earn a few thousand, but then they run into limits and stop, or they start earning less money.

140k/year is for sure a very nice amount.
To consider X profit a good one depends on a lot of factors ; country you operate, how much time do you spend, how many friends do you have etc.

X profit should be good for a limited country ,but not good for a country like UK ,Austria,Colombia.

For example, if you make 20k/month having plenty of italian or spanish bet365 accounts, it makes you a loser.
If you make 4k/month from a limited market like Albania,Macedonia,Faroe Islands, you are great.

try opening a new bet365 italia account now and let's see how long it lasts ahahahaha :D ;D . I met people who opened a bet365 Italia account 2 weeks ago and at the first live valuebet it was limited to 2 euros. I repeat. the fun in Italy is coming to an end as far as value betting is concerned
