now with 6% savings interest in UK, it's hard to spend the interest on my arbing earnings, no need for me to arb any more and I quit because I had enough to never work again but that's not to say that sometimes I miss it

Come on guys, don't be mean. When you start like with 1k EUR, you have no information, no betburger, you have to live off those earnings, so it really wasn't quite that easy even in the golden era. But starting today with 1k euros seems impossible to me, I don't understand at all how these new guys do it.

I am sure that there will be much less of those who have earned the same or more by betting. It depends on how you define smart bettor. To consider X profit a good one depends on a lot of factors ; country you operate,how much time do you spend,how many friends do you have etc.
X profit should be good for a limited country ,but not good for a country like UK ,Austria,Colombia.
For example, if you make 20k/month having plenty of italian or spanish bet365 accounts, it makes you a loser.
If you make 4k/month from a limited market like Albania,Macedonia,Faroe Islands, you are great.
