That's me out.

Wed Jun 26, 2024 4:42 pm

After 35 years wagering and trading that's myself finished.

Travelled the long journey to Salisbury to back the Hannon 2 year old in the first. Amazingly I got on. 5k cash at 1/2. Then 10k on my card at 2/5.

You all know the story, I finally get a decent bet on and horse gets beat. Couldn't trade as no exchange access. Horse hit 1.05 for plenty.

Just to note I wish you all well moving forward and hope the game changes, but with all these restrictions and affordability checks it's hard. Unless you have a job with a 250k salary.

What I will do now god knows as I took early retirement at 52. I'm only 6 months in.

Suppose more time with my wife and dogs, and I may aswell get the golf clubs out. But like I say goodluck to all on here. Take care.

I wish all the good luck of the world.
Also, If I am allowed for an advise, I believe you should keep a contact with this business. Once you get out for good, it is very difficult to return back.
Again, good luck to you and your family.

Agree its always good to keep in the game.

After the 2020 convid sports stop, and my subsequent nightmare with the corrupt betfair, I am now semi retired, but still bet on a couple of sports I know very well and manage to eek out £15 -£20k a year.

Things are very tough now, both for arbers, value bettors and even using previously reputable exchanges, bookies and even funds transfer agents like Neteller, Skrill etc

I now only commit funds I am willing to lose in a worst case scenario, and am very grateful I had 24 good years that have set me up pretty much for life now.

For newbees, sorry its never gonna happen, for those reliant on the income, its gonna get tougher and tougher every year.

Hello Mr. Bonham,

As the Owner of the Forum told you, never fully disconnect from this business.

Now that the daily stressful work of trading the markets is behind you, when you have some free time, just happily and calmly, without stress, watch and enjoy horse racing and other sporting activities that you have participated in in the past during your career. Don't think about hypothetical wins/losses at all, just enjoy the sport once in a while.
If you like, one day you can simply look and enjoy the differences between British horse racing and Australian horse racing. Also interesting are the American horse races, for example, Santa Anita in California.
Take casual notes if anything on the tracks makes an unusual impression on you. Again, fully avoid stressing about past trading activities, just watch and enjoy.

When you say you enjoy stick games, Golf is pretty OK for a Zen state of Mind.
If you wish, you may also take a look at other stick games such as Baseball and why not Cricket.
Take casual notes, about the games. Enjoy them.

One day you may return back in the business, who knows? Another jurisdiction?

Write here on the Forum, if you wish.

I wish you and your family all the best!
