Put the back bet up 1st.yorkjoss wrote:aren't you in danger of a bot snapping up your money before you could if you tried that tactic?sportoboy wrote:It makes sense if the "hacker" went on betfair markets with 0 turnover (e.g. half-time correct score at lithuania 2nd division or something like that) and placed unreasonable bets at unreasonable odds (half-time score 2-2 at 1,01) with the intention to lose. You are laying 1.01 from the "other account" and then you use the hacked account to back it. It has to be a market than no other offers exists as BF will match you at best odds. The only danger I can see is a bot comes with a better offer, 1.02 ... at the very moment you are trying to take the bet and Betfair will match you there.dealer wins wrote:Put the back bet up 1st.yorkjoss wrote:aren't you in danger of a bot snapping up your money before you could if you tried that tactic?sportoboy wrote: Y

Not if you place the other side first.yorkjoss wrote:aren't you in danger of a bot snapping up your money before you could if you tried that tactic?sportoboy wrote:It makes sense if the "hacker" went on betfair markets with 0 turnover (e.g. half-time correct score at lithuania 2nd division or something like that) and placed unreasonable bets at unreasonable odds (half-time score 2-2 at 1,01) with the intention to lose. with almost or zero trading at 100 and then took the lay (at 100) on your other account then no bot is going to interfere with you. (or could a bot jump in and offer you lower lay odds the second you hit "confirm bet"?)
oops! just noticed Qbet already said this, bots are something out of curiousness that I'd like to know more about.
recent posts highlight, many dangers involved in arbing, who said it was risk free?

having had a think about this, I suppose if you put the ridiculous bet up first, like wanting to back on a very quiet marketcristi13 wrote:Not if you place the other side first.yorkjoss wrote:aren't you in danger of a bot snapping up your money before you could if you tried that tactic?sportoboy wrote:

Finally Skrill decide to refund all the amount. I appreciate Skrill for this action. But I still believe that PT have to do something with theirs transactions issue in order to our money be safe, as Arbusers said this is the most important thing here! And I hope nobody face this kind of hackers stealing as I did!

IMHO Asianconnect acts safer by only accepting deposits from same email-address AND user known, not allowing cross-shifting funds between friends any more...
Simple thing - much safer!
Also possible way would be to install a "deposit pasword" @PT - only after issuing that PW the funds will go on credit, otherwise directly declined towards the sender...
(which of course must be different to Skrill for being safe)
BUT also my opinion is that PT made the leakage possible by not caring much about security - weird enough Skrill pays for it - but at least minas got his money back, so Happy End

I just think customers should could have been better protected for situations like this. Right now, it's just basically up to them if they want to give the refund or not.
