As a side post, I would like to remind one of the most corrupted football games in history.
It was the 1982 World Cup game of Germany Vs Austria 1-0.
The game is now called the disgrace of Gijon.
The game was such a farce that German TV commentator refused to comment after 45', while the Austrian counterpart kindly asked all viewers to switch off their TV sets.
The only player that made a fair game received a yellow card.
Needless to say that FIFA decided the game was fair.

With Portugal and Argentina out, the remaining favourites are Belgium, France, Spain and Croatia (with this order).
Vote again if your options are out.

The only problem is we'll be seeing a "final" in the quarter final with a likely clash between Belgium and Brazil...I fear Brazil is the better team though.

I consider Croatia as having great chances to go to the semifinals.Bastard wrote: Lets go CROATIA

France is very solid.
croatia seem very tired as they have played two 120minute match+penaltys.

All right guys. Congrats to all of you that selected France and Croatia.
If your selection is eliminated, you still have the right to vote for the final.

Croatia had one of the best sides at the world cup with great players. The likes of Modric, Rakitic, Perisic and Mandzukic. Amazing really they were such huge odds at the start. I saw odds in the 40's. I think France will have too much for them in the final but they have done really well to reach a first major final.

Re: World Cup 2018 discussion and polls
We have seen one of the best World Cups in football history. It stands at the same level with 1986 World Cup. What a coincidence, Belgium made it to the semifinals in both tournaments. But Belgium was not the biggest surprise. It was Croatia that made it through iron and steel to the final with good chances to take the trophy.
At the same time, 2 more teams emerged and they are expected to dominate European and World football for the next decade or so. France, that looks unbeatable now heading for the Euro20, and of course talented England expected to mature after it.
This World Cup is a huge promotion of the sport that gained in 2 different levels.
Geographically, it brought in all the x-USSR countries that weren't great supporters of the sport.
Demographically, the infiltration to the female fans is accelerating.
Bookmakers are happy with the tournament as it proved to be a very profitable one, thanks to the early elimination of the super powers and the surprises of Croatia and Belgium.
We as professional players gained experience and of course profits, especially during the group stage.
World Cup 2022 will be a special one, because it will unite at least 2 seasons in a row, while this row could be extended to 4 years creating a load of work and profits for the smart gambling community.
Now let me congratulate and say a big thank you to all the guys that positively contributed to this thread, and let me wish you some great holidays for those of you who stayed until the last day.
